Prepare Yourself for Obama's Second Term (Maybe we should fear a repeat of 1996...)
American Thinker ^ | 11/18/2011 | Michael Filozof

For some time now, many conservatives have thought that President Obama is the Second Coming of Jimmy Carter. They think that chronic 9% unemployment, creeping inflation, and a foreign policy of self-abasement and weakness will doom Obama to a single term, and that he'll slink off with his tail between his legs in disgrace, just like Carter did after 1980.

Maybe they should be thinking about the election of 1996 instead.

Does anyone remember the disaster that was Bill Clinton's first term? The first attempt to put gays in the military, the first attack on the World Trade Center by Muslim fanatics, and the "Assault Weapons" Ban? The proposal to raise taxes, increase spending, and downsize the military? Hillary arrogantly proclaiming that she was no little Tammy Wynette standing by her man and baking cookies? That she would revamp the entire health care system, by herself, in secret, without congressional input? Does anyone remember the Waco debacle, which led directly to the Oklahoma City bombing, and Clinton's allegation that it was the fault of talk radio? Does anyone remember the landslide Republican victory in the House in 1994, breaking forty straight years of Democratic control -- a massive rebuke of the Clinton administration?

And yet...Clinton got re-elected in 1996. He didn't just squeak by, either -- he won a crushing 379-159 victory in the Electoral College and beat the Republican ticket by eight and a half percent in the popular vote.

Conservatives were in shock. How could this happen? Answer: after the 1994 conservative revolution in the midterm elections, the Republican 1996 presidential campaign turned into the Revenge of the Flaming Moderates. The Republican primaries featured banal, milquetoast candidates like Lamar Alexander (whose campaign strategy was to don a flannel shirt and stand in front of a sign ...

1) Yes the current GOP candidates are worse than those in 1996

2) Demographics

3) 16 more years of public school indoctrination

4) Media doesn’t even pretend to be non-biased anymore

It’s not looking good

“Conservatives were in shock. How could this happen?”

Two words, Bob Dole. A milquetoast country clubber.

And we are in the process of doing the same again with Milt Romulon.

“Obama cannot run on a weak economy”

That is why I still don’t believe he will be the candidate in 2012; even the leftist media is mocking him at this point. No matter how much they tried to run interference for him, they could never convince an unemployed voter that unemployment isn’t at a critical level, and they could never convince someone buying gas for their car or groceries for their family that there is no inflation. In the end, when asked, “Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?”, at least 80% of Americans will say NO! Right now Occupy Wall Street is composed of people who’ve been losing their jobs since the Kenyan Pirate was elected; his media even had to admit one of those kibs actually shot at the White House. With exception of those gubmint workers that have survived layoffs, no segment of his base isn’t worse off than in 2008. Blacks, Hispanics, femi-Nazis, sexual deviants, etc. - they’ve been bearing their share of unemployment, foreclosures, etc.

“i been saying obama would be re-elected all along. The Republican Party, the main stream media, and the Democrat Party all want it to happen.”

Unfortunately he has to face those things called “voters”; the anti-incumbent sentiment that he rode in (McCain would have lost to ANY Dem) will now sweep him back out. American voters are naive, but they know when their standard of living has fallen dramatically in the past few years (even pre-dating the coronation of the Sultan). The “new normal” is the biggest factor against Obama, and there is nothing the media, the Dems, or the Repubs can do to save him from the voters’ reaction to it. Telling us unemployment is 9% doesn’t fool anyone in the real number (closer to 20%) that are actually unemployed, and having the “media” tell us that we thankfully don’t have to contend with inflation doesn’t fool anyone that buys gasoline or groceries.

So, who is the 2012 version of Bob Dole?

ROMNEY

We must take the Senate...

With NewtCare and RomneyCare (daddy of obamacare), Obser just brings up all the commonality between him and either one of the Rinos. Done over....

Newt is a bulldog. If he is the nominee he will rip at BO like nobody has to date.

I agree - to-date, Newt is the one that will rip Zero a new one. I am quickly getting to the point where I am willing to overlook his transgressions if I believe he can "TAKE OUT ZERO".

Romney is not the one to take on that task - Romney will lose in a nanosecond once the Obamacare debate begins.

Yes, the low-key Jack French Kemp later admitted he and Dole had no chance because people thought they had “peace and prosperity” with Jack’s friends, Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

Not really, the American people didn’t give a rat’s rear about the murder of some eighty-six “religious nuts” in Waco, Texas.

I still am uncertain if voters will see a rational alternative to Obama. They also don’t like to have to admit they have been snookered.

Judging by the paucity of BO (and BO '12) bumper stickers in my deep-blue neighborhood, I'd say the voters are looking for a reason to NOT vote for BO again. All they need is a little (big) nudge.

This afternoon I saw someone driving a pickup truck down a thoroughfare that leads to the UC Berkeley campus. That truck was flying, on a short pole (properly displayed and erect) a large American flag.

“I still am uncertain if voters will see a rational alternative to Obama.”

They know they can’t deal with four more years of him; his comments that blame American workers for this economy are indicative of a lame duck president. He is acting as though he has already lost the election, and is simply lashing out while awaiting the inauguration of his successor.

“They also don’t like to have to admit they have been snookered.”

That’s why we have secret ballots; nobody is admitting they’ve been snookered. Look how quickly those bumper stickers disappeared - a year after the election it was impossible to find a white person who would admit voting for him. The knowledge that they’ve been snookered is why these people will toss him out; if necessary they can still pretend to support our Sultan while firing him.

The 94 election proves you’re wrong.

Just ask Jack Brooks how the 94 election went for him after his comments about Waco.

I think to prepare for Obamas second term I would buy bullets and move to the boonies to get away from the street riots and Nazi Police force created to control the OWS goons also created by Obama.

If Obama retains power, blood will run in the streets. I don’t want it to be mine or my family’s.

Summer 2012 will be much quieter. Doesn't mean he won't win again, but the enthusiasm and excitement will be notably absent.

Well, it won't do us any good if the enthusiasm in your locality is gone but he wins again. The goal of the conservative movement is not to end the shiny, happy summer cookouts of liberals - it is to end the leftist trends of government.

I openly mock obama supporters in public now. I ridicule them. Obama voters need to be reminded constantly of his incompetence.

Obama voters should not be tolerated - they need to be preppered w facts stats and the long list of bankster cronies running this admn.

Your neighbors sound like someone I would love love love love showing up in my metallica shirt and combat boots and crush in a debate on the issues. They would never know what hit them.

The only difference is that the Tea Party movement is around in 2012...If the GOP runs Mittens, the GOP will become a third party as it’s replaced.
