Is GOP missing chance to grow? (Hispanic vote)
Las Vegas Sun ^ | November 19, 2011 | Karoun Demirjian

...“You would be surprised at how many Republican Latinos there actually are in the state of Nevada. There are quite a few of us,” said Alex Garza, a Hispanic Republican activist. “I think the numbers are there; we just haven’t organized as well as the Democratic Latino organizations.”

The potential political power of Latinos is an oft-told story in Nevada and elsewhere, though any happy ending at the polls usually is enjoyed by Democrats.

...During the Republican presidential candidates’ nationally televised debate in Las Vegas last month, they were asked how they would speak to the Latino community. Newt Gingrich suggested that Latinos didn’t need to be singled out as any different from any other ethnic group. But Rick Santorum suggested Latinos should naturally gravitate toward the Republican Party because of shared faith-based values.

That message resonates with some Latinos.

“The Republican Party has very, very strong family values ... Latino families in general believe in the family values as well,” said Jose Hernandez, an accountant who serves as a youth pastor at his evangelical church with a mostly Latino group of 18- to 30-year-olds he counsels.

“My youth that I teach, obviously I’m teaching them Biblical principles and stuff, but then outside, I introduce them to the subject ... and by doing that I’m actually getting people to start coming around and thinking that the Republican agenda actually has better options than President Obama and the Senate,” he said. “If they’re learning good Christian values, they will vote Republican.”

Catching the youth is key any effort to gain support in the community. Nationwide, every month, 50,000 Latinos turn 18 and become eligible to vote.

Cantu and Garza say the party is working on it but could use funding and assistance from the greater Nevada GOP...

”Perry then played to the crowd as best he could, and mentioned the Latinos he’s appointed to office,

Nope. NO identity politics there....

lol!

La Raza Rick Perry has made a career of pandering to ILLEGAL aliens. That may have played well in his home state of Texas but conservatives and Republicans across America see it for what it is; it is why Perry is polling in single digits and still dropping.

I see the “put Obama back in office for 4 more years” posters are out in force.

Why should conservatives settle for a hispandering, big government nanny statist who engages in taxpayer funded corporate pay to play welfare? That's the real Perry legacy, not his media blitz image of true blue conservatism made from whole cloth out of a ghost written book.

Why should any conservative knowingly vote for a fraud to defeat another fraud?

” You will get the Hispanic vote by addressing them as unhyphenated Americans who share America’s values within the culture and the ideology of constitutional freedom. Equality before the law and, in general, the rule of law is central to American freedom as is unity and idenity beyond foreign race tribe.

I don’t want the Hispanic vote if that means placing the tribe above the rule of law and giving them unconstitutional foreign tribal preferences over the rights and interests of Americans. If that is what they want, they are Democrats. And if that is what you want to give to them as a leader, you are a Democrat. But from my experience, with the exception of leftists, that is not what American Hispanics want when presented with freedom’s ideology and values as a choice to the left’s racism.

Lawlessness is what illegals and their abettors want and I want them out of my country. Not so with Perry, unfortunately. “

Another Sara Johnson classic. Pure reason, No B.S.

Actually, it was Newt that called Americans 'heartless.' Let's set the record straight. Newt is for amnesty and in June 2011 Debate Newt Gingrich called Americans Heartless for wanting to deport 20 million illegals.

"GINGRICH: No, but let me say this, John. No serious citizen who's concerned about solving this problem should get trapped into a yes/no answer in which you're either for totally selling out protecting America or you're for totally kicking out 20 million people in a heartless way. There are -- there are humane, practical steps to solve this problem, if we can get the politicians and the news media to just deal with it honestly."June 2011 Debate Transcript

Many of them are smart enough to figure things out. One of my buds just yesterday stated again, while he cannot say he'll ever be a republican, he's a conservative - he cannot ever reconcile his Christian values with the left, but moderate republicans scared him off from the GOP.

I told him to remember that I'm an Independent Conservative. We can vote for any ballot we want to in AZ. He's very comfortable with that.

The GOP won't win disenchanted Latinos. Karl Rove and other moderate weenies fouling the well will assure that.

Conservatives will win the Latino vote, because when they re-examin their values, they are us.

I know how to reach the Latino vote. Let’s build a wall between United States and Mexico. That’ll do it.

My "Latino" family who worked their butts off to become legal citizens want the moat with alligators, electric fence and snipers, too.

Illegal immigration is an insult to all hard working Americans including Latinos.

Screw the criminals...

So now you Perry freaks are so desperate that you are compelled to deflect Perry’s nationally televised heartless comment to Gingrich? LOL! Hey, you tied him, you ride him.

The most damning information yet about Perry. Dem hispanics voting for Perry is now supposed to convey to us how "conservative" Perry is.

I would laugh but I would end up splitting a gut.

June 2011, it was Newt who used the word heartless...yet, you very strange group of Perry haters go wild over the word heart even using the word heartless. When it was Newt that called YOU heartless. So what exactly is with YOU? We already know the answer...you are that afraid of Rick Perry knowing he will be the nominee so daily get receive your marching orders to get Rick Perry. It has become so obvious you are completely uncovered and all your hate filled vileness.

If you've put an ounce of thought into this you know what the problem is.

Like Healthcare, the left broke the system in order to create a demand for a replacement or an excuse to ignore the law altogether. It can take 10 years to claim citizenship. Did you know that? I mean personally know that through the pain of a loved one?

What we need to do is (highly generalized suggestion that bears debate):

1) Purge the country of socialists who destroy freedom via inhibiting bureaucracies and regulation. No debate here.

2) Facilitate the immigration process to say...a 4 week probationary period and a maximum 2 year processing time.

3) If no compelling reason for deportation can be found in say 4 weeks, they get their green card. It's automatic.

4) If no compelling case can be found for denial of citizenship can be found in 2 years, the route to citizenship is opened up and can be immediate.

5) There should be a well defined listing of infractions that can get you deported/arrested/jailed. This does not including things like traffic violations, but major crimes that get you tossed.

6) The process should be free or priced at an accessible expense for anyone. It can be subsidized by the multi billions of dollars in savings for fixing the old process.

7) Penalties for infractions outside of the new code should be draconian, no tolerance and no nonsense.

We want immigration. We want good, new citizens. We want hot foreign women for our boys. We don't need criminals and I will never develop a sense of pity for those who come into our very home and piss all over it. They deserve none.

The question is, why would you not feel the same way?

Americans for Rick Perry which includes the indies and the dems. Perry happens to show the proper respect for all people and they love him for that especially those in South Texas.

Yes, the pro-ILLEGAL crowd would support La Raza Rick. Why wouldn't they? He's been going to bat for them for the last 10 years!

I wanted to like the guy, really I did. But it took me just a short time to discover the pro-ILLEGAL alien RINO does not represent my conservative values -- not by a long shot. It's sad that so many 'conservatives' here either look past or accept his liberal leanings. People are different, I understand that. But being pro-ILLEGAL alien is not conservative, there's just no defending it.

Uh, oh. Here comes another laughing attack.

Whenever hispanic dems vote for a republican it's because he pandered to them. Period.

The fact that they see themselves as hispanic dems tells me they are racist liberals.
