Newt Gingrich won't appear on Missouri ballot
Chicago Tribune ^ | 11-22-11 | Paul West

*snip*

The former House speaker, who is putting a campaign organization together on the fly, failed to qualify for the contest in the Show Me State.

According to the Missouri Secretary of State's office, Gingrich did not file the necessary papers as of Tuesday's 5 p.m. deadline. That means his name will not be on the Feb. 7 ballot.

The filing requirements are not particularly onerous. A $1,000 check and some paperwork are all that's needed.

Good. The guy just took a large portion of his supporters out anyway with his pro-illegal immigration stance, which is the same old establishment Republican liberal BS that Conservatives do not want. It’s one of the main issues that destroyed Perry’s campaign almost overnight, and it can’t be defended. I wasn’t a fan of his to begin with, but this completely writes him off. This makes him a candidate I couldn’t even support in the general election against Obama. He’s the same as Romney, and Perry now. Considering we have guys like Herman Cain, and others who are serious when it come to illegal immigration there is no excuse for us Conservatives to nominate a status qua do nothing, but pander to illegal immigrants candidate.

I would like someone to seriously tell me how illegal immigration isn’t a bigger threat to the fall of the United States than is any outside nation or terrorist threat, such as Iran? One is embedded in our politics we can’t even talk about it seriously because of fear, even though it’s done more damage and taken more lives. It doesn’t take a genius to see that Mexican government sponsored illegal immigration will cause the fall of the Union before Iran will, yet one is called a friend.

A somewhat off-topic comment.

The wildly disproportionate influence given IA, NH and other early delegate choosing states is utterly idiotic and wildly anti-democratic. Why exactly should IA eternally hold the entire country hostage on ethanol subsidies because of the date of their caucus?

Primary dates for the different states should be randomly assigned a year before they start. Mix things up a bit.

Did someone mention a prerference for “professional” candidates and handlers. This glitch makes Gingrich look oh so professional. Wouldn’t you say?

Considering his partnering with Pelosi in the globull warming ads and other alliances he has made, NOTHING would surprise me.

Gingrich IS all about money, judging by the mail I’ve received from him over the past few years, discussing the latest crisis and how DONATING to whatever latest fund he has set up will help eliminate the problem.

So, I would not be surprised if someone is paying him WELL to stay in the race to take votes from others.

That’s politics. (many bloodsuckers)

Just a minute here. Aren’t you from the crowd that keeps saying write in votes are a waste of time. Of course, that’s in the context of writing in a conservative candidate’s name if ther GOP picks a RINO standard bearer.

But wait, you say, that’s the general election. LOL, LOL.

So what does this say about the people Gingrich chooses to advise and assist him? Sorry, not gonna let you off the hook. If this was Cain you’d be all over it like a fly on poop.

What’s your point? You may not think your making excuses, but at the very least your mittigating (sorry, I couldn’t resist that).

the Democrat Secretary of State (a member of the hillbilly-criminal Carnahan family)

Good Lord, will that state NEVER run out of those people? They're worse than Kennedys.

They're worse than Kennedys.

To clarify... that was in the context of hyper-breeding, not drowning campaign workers (that I know of).

Big screw up. Substantiates the buzz on Newt's prowess at debates but lackluster ability to unify an effective team to implement his ideas.

And Newt is my fallback to Cain. This really does suck...

Divide the states into six units roughly equal in population and delegates. starting with the first Saturday in March hold primaries thirty days apart with the last one in August. The last day of the convention, roll a dice to determine the order of the primaries for four years out. After the first primary, subsequent dates should be thirty days and then adjusted to the nearest Saturday.

Well, it was only a thousand bucks to register, and then you could decide later if you needed the “momentum” it would give. But I tend to agree — it will be more important to get into the actual delegate contests.

I would guess if he managed to survive his debate miscues last night, AND the scrutiny he’s getting again about all his bad policy positions, and his past, and still manages to win Iowa, New Hampshire, or South Carolina, it won’t matter much what happens in Missouri. And if he doesn’t, it certainly won’t matter.

Have some close friends that are electors in MO. The primary is really like going to the beauty parlor before the prom. The delegates won’t be selected until the caucus. This is OLD news as Republicans have been opting out of the primary in MO. State law set Missouri’s primary on Feb. 7. But National Republican Party rules require Missouri to wait until at least March to hold its presidential contest, or risk losing half its delegates.

After the caucuses, the Missouri GOP will hold congressional district conventions on April 21 and have a state convention on June 2. The final slate of delegates who go to the national convention will be selected on those dates.

You have underestimated Newt. It is against the National Republican Rules...so there. Before you jump on the gotcha train..know the facts

The Missouri Republican State Committee decided Thursday to use a caucus system to award delegates to presidential candidates, instead of relying on a primary election. The Missouri caucuses take place on March 17.

Not a snafu at all and in accordance with the National Republican Party and Missouri. Delegates are NOT chosen until the state caucus. The NRC requires MO to wait until march.
