The Gingrich Amnesty
NRO ^ | Nov 23, 2011 | Mark Krikorian

Missed the debate because of wrestling practice, but it’s hardly surprising that Newt would support amnesty for illegal aliens. After the Pelosi global-warming ad and Dede Scozzafava and “right-wing social engineering,” is it any surprise he’d adopt the left’s line on immigration too? He earned a career grade of D from Numbers USA (they calculate back to 1989). Heck, even Barbara Boxer has a career grade of D+.

.. So the Gingrich Amnesty would cover illegal immigrants here when Congress passed IRCA. That is to say, it would pick up where the previous amnesty left off, legalizing precisely those people who didn’t qualify for IRCA. This just underlines what a chump you have to be to support any deal offered you by amnesty supporters.

Which is why “enforcement first” is the only way to go: consistent, unapologetic, across-the-board enforcement of the immigration law at our consulates overseas for visa applicants, at the borders, and inside the country, especially at the worksite — without preconditions or deals or grand bargains.

“People need to pay attention to details....Newt is not saying they should be given citizenship.”

It’s defacto, if not de jure, amnesty and everyone knows it.

Once they were “legalized”, there would be an immediate second push for citizenship. If you didn’t go along, you’d be “heartless”.

Why would I pay attention to anything Laura Ingraham has to say? Vehemently claims to be a pro-life Catholic woman, yet she often turns over her show and gives a very large forum to Tammy Bruce, a pro abortion, unrepentant lesbian. I go elsewhere now.

“Perry and Newt are unacceptable. I was hoping that Newt would moderate his radical views, but he doubling-down just like Perry.”

Agreed. Their open borders, amnesty predilictions are bad enough, but their in-your-face approach is even more infuriating.

I can’t vote for another George Bush/John McCain warm over.

Show me a plan or a study that shows how 12 mil are going to be deported/self-deport.

Secure border i.e. lock it down

Criminal sentences mandated for those who hire illegals,p> Confiscation of all assets obtained illegally (as an illegal)

Overturn anchor baby citizenship

Mandate deportation. No catch and release.

Non-federal jurisdictions to enforce immigration laws

No federal funds to non-cooperating jurisdictions or organizations e.g. universities and school systems

There you go.

You mean BachmaNN? Always a good policy to know how to spell your candidate's name before endorsing her in a post. I liked her too, until she took a cheap shot at Herman Cain to try to scare voters away from him. Told me a lot about her character.

Exactly, the logic is illogical. Reagan made an unforgivable mistake.

Thanks for posting that. I had missed this part of the debate and was looking for a transcript/video of what Newt said that has so many in an uproar.

Can't say I agree with some of it, but do appreciate his explaining how he got to the position he holds.

Food for thought/consideration going forward.

It was not what you seem to think it was; and what Reagan signed, mostly did not happen.
Just like the X number of times he raised taxes didn't happen? Sorry Charlie, the perfect conservative exists in myth only.
I'd vote for Newt - with all his flaws - a million times before I'd vote for the pizza guy.
I may like Cain, but the WH is no place to begin a new career.

When has Tammy used Laura’s show to promote the views you ascribe to her?

You may have missed that my post was addressing Laura’s unwillingness to listen to Newt’s actual proposal, preferring to mischaracterize it instead.

Maybe we should export our citizens who are a burden.

I like how you think. Let's start with the OWS morons, and then onto means-testing every government welfare and social security/disability recipient to eliminate the humongous waste, fraud and abuse happening there.

Why would church attendance or Christianity not have a place in this discussion?

If there is a family of illegals that is attending church regularly, a conservative church at that, why would I want to deport them? In praising and worshiping God regularly, they are doing more to adhere to the Founding Fathers’ idea of America than many citizens that are here legally!

Some illegals are pro-family, God-fearing Christians. I don’t know what percentage, of course. And clearly all illegals don’t share these values based on the horrific illegal alien crime statistics, but you can’t deny there are good ones who just want to live peacefully.

I will say it again, as a Christian, I support Newt 100% on this one.

Besides, I would rather Newt capture the Hispanic vote than Obama. Certainly any immigration plan that Newt creates would be FAR superior than one Obama designs.

You must have missed my 3-3-3 plan. A $900.00 fine for every illegal alien employee. $300 to whoever turns in the worker. $300 to gov to run the program. $300 for one way ticket out of town. Shortly after implementation, illegals will turn themselves in and leave with $300 in their pocket.

Do you really think any such law would be deemed constitutional?

Gingrich blew it with his support for amnesty and for H-1 visas to allow cheap Indian and Chinese engineers to displace American engineering talent. (Romney and the others are also clueless on this H-1 visa scam).

Gingrich fails to realize that the only difference between an illegal border crosser caught by the Border Patrol today and the one that’s been here 25 years is that the 25 year guy has been breaking the law 9,125 days longer.

As Newt himself would say, if he had the brain he is reputed to have, it’s absurd to think that if break into the country illegally, it’s OK if you can get more than 25 miles across the border, or more than 25 days without being caught.

Using the Gingrich logic, John Demjanjuk, (an 89 year old American citizen with American children and grandchildren who was deported and denaturalized in 2009 because he was a Nazi prison camp guard in the 1940’s), should have been allowed to stay here forever.

What is the difference between Demjanjuk and these other illegals?

So would it be OK with you if she had a nazi fill in for her as long as he said nothing about his nazi views? A crazy comparison? Killing Jews versus killing babies. Very comparable I say.

“I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are members of the community, who may have done something 25 years ago, separate them from their families, and expel them.”

The genius Gingrich fails to realize that the only difference between an illegal border crosser caught by the Border Patrol today and the one that’s been here 25 years is that the 25 year guy has been breaking the law 9,125 days longer.

Apparently, a lot of Freepers are of the same mindset. Dig deeper and you will find these same Freepers use illegal workers themselves and/or don't have to put up with the curse of having 20 illegals living next door to them trashing up the neighborhood,
