A 23-year-old man charged with killing his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter appeared before a judge Friday.
Police arrested Fredy Alexander Chingo Riz, of Willimantic, on Thanksgiving Day.
State police began an investigation Wednesday night after the victim, 3-year-old Athena Angeles, was taken from her home at 112 Hope Street in Willimantic to Windham Memorial Hospital in cardiac arrest. She died at the hospital.
Thursday, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner concluded the toddler died of blunt abdominal and chest trauma and ruled the death a homicide, police said.
Chingo Riz, an illegal immigrant here from Guatemala, admitted to police he had punched the girl in the stomach several times, according to court documents. He told authorities he had beaten her at least two other times as well.
Chingo Riz lived in the home with the 3-year-old victim and her mother. He was charged with manslaughter, risk of injury to a minor and assault. He was held on $1.5 million bond.

This way the illegals have of beating children,kind of makes me wonder how many children die in Guatemala, Mexico, and Venezuela, and are merely tossed out into the woods.
And Yes the mother needs some time in the clink too.

Also, I'm shocked that the headline of this article (by a Connecticut NBC affiliate, no less) actually referred to this scumbag as an illegal.
It’s only murder if the victim is an older teen or adult. If you pay attention to these stories (I do) you would see a disturbing trend in the law. Things you can do to a child or especially a baby and serve minimal time, if you did those same things to an adult, you would serve 25 to life. If you were lucky.
But, but, but...he’s just a poor, misunderstood, illegal-alien. We need to be compassionate towards our forlorn brothers and sisters from south of the border. Besides that, it’s an election year and Obama, Holder, Big Sis Janet, and every other assorted asshat in the Democratic party doesn’t want to alienate a substantial part of the Democrat base. Thus, they will only charge him with MANSLAUGHTER. Can’t risk pissing off La Raza by sending this punk to death row.

In all seriousness, this is terrible, heartbreaking, and tragic. Send this cowardly, POS, assho!e to my house and I’ll spend a week beating on him to within an inch of his life. Then they can patch him up and put him on trial.

I disagree. The number one threat to young children are their mothers. The Mother invited the lone wolf into the den.
Mothers are supposed to protect and wolves are supposed to maim, kill, and destroy.
In my eyes it is the mother who fell down on the job.
Can’t you please give it a rest for once? The thread isn’t about the primary, it’s about what happened to this little girl.
And while the mother isn’t blameless in this, why isn’t anybody questiong where the child’s father is? The little girl is one more casualty of the undermining of marriage, commitment and family in our society.
They should be burnt.
