A self-styled "jet man" has performed another death defying stunt - flying alongside two Albatross aircraft above the Swiss Alps.
Adventurer Yves Rossy flew in a custom-built jet suit over the mountain range in formation with the aircraft.
Rossy, 51, launched himself from the side of a helicopter before taking his place alongside the two jets high above the Alps. The daredevil - who used to fly fighter jets with the Swiss airforce - wears a custom built jet suit which has a wing span of two metres.
The pack weighs around 120lb and is fitting with four engines that enable him to travel at speeds in excess of 125mph.
Once the flight was completed, the adventurer safely parachuted back down to the ground.
Rossy is still the first man in the history of aviation to fly with a jet-propelled wing, a feat he first achieved in 2006.
In May 2008, he flew in his suit over the Swiss Alps for the first time and then crossed the English Channel later that year.
Since then, he has worked on the design of his jet-pack which has led to his first formation flights and acrobatics.

reminds me of the old Soviet propaganda of swarms of Red soldiers flying through the skies

He is STILL the first?? Is someone planning to go back in time and take it away from him?
Check out the video !!!
That is too cool! Good for him.
It’d be great if it could be perfected and made available to the average guy.

Using today’s journalism “standards” we can assume eventually he will lose that title if we wait long enough...
That looks like a wild friggin’ ride!
lol
sounds like a cool thing but I’d be scared for my life the whole time. heh
125 MPH isn’t exactly flying, though. He needs a bigger jet!
Breitling has its own air force now?
So does Coors and one of the Pizza Co, IIRC.
I can do that . . .in my dreams!
I suspect that if he had an ordinary sized set, he could easily exceed three hundred miles per hour, but the wind drag for the extra material in his pants slows him down. :>)
Not quite as cool but the skydivers in the birdman skydiving suits are quite a sight to see.

It makes sense to me, on the assumption that the writer had something sensible in mind. I believe no one has matched his feat, so he is “still the first”, i.e. just as he was “the first” on the first day he did this. Of course, if this is the idea, one should say he is “still the only” jetman, and I believe he is, as I say.
