Perry is nearly perfect with regards to his gun record.

Is there any other candidate running who is even a member of the NRA let alone a lifetime member.

Is there any other candidate who hunts?

Any other who shoots at all?

Great maybe he should run for governor.

Even on this thread, the spam is hitting the Keywords.

Yeah, I guess those warnings from the mods last month about keyword spamming didn't apply to all the candidates.

All animals candidates are equal but some animals candidates are more equal than others.

He has essentially been eliminated from the contest at this point.

I'll grant that the only polls that count are the ones open on Election Day but . . . Rick Perry is still way ahead of Rick "articulate, passionate, less baggage" Santorum in the other ones.

In fairness to Herman, I think the grades are based on a voting record, which he doesn't have.

Weak argument billy. Perry was a farm boy and in the military long before he was running for office. Don't you think he was pro gun then too? Did he carry that pistol only on the day he shot the coyote while jogging? Did someone let the coyote out there just for him to shoot for show? See how silly that sounds?

Whether you like the guy or not, Perry is pro 2nd amendment.

Yup. On the 2nd Amendment, he’s on target. Unfortunately his other negatives outweigh this IMO.

Well, Cain’s NR isn’t really damning. Just stands for “Not Rated” because he has no legislative or executive record to rate.

The worst you could say about an “NR” is that you’re buying a pig in a poke. I guarantee he isn’t as bad as The Won on this issue.

There’s more to it than that. See post #32.

Cain needs to do a better job of following through on requests for information. I look at it like a test in school. If you don’t take the test or don’t turn it in, you don’t get a passing grade.

Pawlenty was on the list too, until Perry shoved him out the race.

LOL! If T-Paw let Perry or anybody else "shove" him out of the race, then he's a sissy and we're better off without him.

>> Weak argument billy. Perry was a farm boy and in the military long before he was running for office. <<

My Senator, Mark Kirk, was in the military long before running for office too. He made up a bunch of B.S. stories about coming under enemy fire and being "deployed" to Iraq, blah blah blah. He has an F rating from the NRA and is a gun grabber. Mayor Daley has a gun collection too and is one of the biggest gun grabbers mayors in the city. Rosie O'Donnell's wants to ban all guns for everyone else yet hired a bodyguard with concealed firearm permit to protect her kids. See how silly your argument sounds?

>> Don't you think he was pro gun then too? <<

Perry was for Carter and Al Gore in the "youthful" days, (not to mention ultra-gun grabber Rudy Giuliani just 4 years ago) his fan club here wants us to believe he was being a good conservative when he supported those liberals. Personally, I think Perry is alot like Mitt Romney: both of them are "for" whatever people in their respective states want to hear. If Perry had run for Govenror of Massachuttes instead of Texas, do I think he would have run on a pro-gun grabbing platform? Absolutely. If Mitt Romney had run in Texas, would have posed for photo-ops at the run range and earned an A rating from the NRA scorecard? Absolutely. There's a difference between doing the right thing because of principles and doing the right thing because it gets you votes.

>> Whether you like the guy or not, Perry is pro 2nd amendment. <<

Whether you like the guy or not, Perry is pro 2nd amendment because he needed to be to get elected in Texas.

What has your senator, Rosie ODonnel and Mayor Daley got to do with Perry? When Perry grew up in Texas almost everyone was a democrat. They were not liberal democrats, they were conservative democrats, BIG difference.

You are sillybilly to me now.

Sure right, LBJ must have a “conservative” Democrat since he was a Democrat from Texas back then Perry was growing up. Must have been my imagination that all those southern Dems were loyal New Deal Democrats. You are Delusional Ditter to me now.

I am talking about the “people of Texas” were conservative democrats. LBJ and others in office put the “liberal” in democrat. In doing that they lost a lot of people and Texas votes mostly Republican now. That’s what people mean when they say the the democrat party moved away from them, they didn’t move away from it. They are the same as they always were, they just vote Republican.

My mothers family were farmers like Perry’s family and I know those people, they are conservative. Some of the older generation still say they are democrats because it is the tradition.

The big news that Perry is pro-gun is going to inform and convince as many voters as the next groundbreaking revelation that he’s pro-hair.
