Top Marine: Fears of ending gay ban prove founded

MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) — Marine Gen. James F. Amos, the face of opposition in the military to lifting the ban on gays serving openly, now acknowledges his concern has proven unfounded that repeal would undermine the war effort. In fact, he says, Marines have embraced the change.

In an Associated Press interview, Amos called the repeal in September "a non-event."

Indeed. RIP, USMC. You were once something an American could be proud of. I’m sure there are still individual servicemen who hate this policy and who are worthy of our respect. But as a collective whole, I have no pride in what our military has become.

I wonder how recruiting is coming along? I know of several military families who are have served for generations, but are strongly discouraging their children from doing the same because of the repeal

Right here.... 7 uncles, my father and my mos 0326, discouraged my son from serving these tools. If he wants to join after college , it’s on him. But he’s not doing PLC/ROTC or service academies, till he reads more and works on his own. He just finished some Hayek for AP economics and mentioned that our country is “turning into 1984” type of place. I think he’s getting the big picture.

Bingo... we have a winner. This is what will tip the scales...sadly, not in our direction.

However, our “pitchfork wielding” forefathers beat the world’s super power to win our freedom!

"As things stand right now, if push came to shove, the democrats know what side the military would come down on, and it wouldn’t be theirs..."

I guess that is why so many service members objected when the Usurper was installed as commander-in-chief. Don't look to the military to protect and defend the Constitution. They either don't know or don't care.

Notice Logic'n'Reason's comment; I've read many similar ones on and off of FR. People with moral compasses are repelled by homosexuals in close quarters in the military. This Gen. Amos is either lying or part of the problem. The most sickening to me is not that Democrats/leftists want to shove the mentally ill perverted homo agenda on everyone, and espeically the military since they hate the military, but the fact that no Republicans have any guts. That's what is especially sickening. Why does less than 2% of the population - a tiny group of mentally ill perverts - control everyone else? I don't get it.

Good for him. If I was a father, I would never encourage my son to go into the military of today. IMHO, I think the libs pushed this repeal through hoping it would reduce recruitment. Then, they can use it as an excuse to reinstate the draft

Don’t worry when the South FINALLY gets the cajones to secede again, the New Confederate Army will not be homosexualized.

Except in the homosexual hive mind, there’s no concept of marital (or even “partner”) faithfulness, not in any sane sense of the word. Monogamy is the exception, not the rule.

Don’t worry, some state(s) will figure out there is only one way out of this nightmare green/homo/commie empire. We have our Illinois President so now would be as good of time as any.

Yes, it does; however, they’ve removed sodomy as an offense, and “naked adultery” (meaning no other charges) is virtually never pursued as a UCMJ offense, even though it’s still in the MCM.

Is this like soldiers being order to applaud for either clinton or obama?

I don’t buy this one iota.

For the first time since my Great Grandfather’s enlistment in the newly formed National Guard back in 1906, no member of my family is serving in the US Armed Forces. Nor is anyone planning to. So much for tradition.

The big only issue I ever seriously had with anyone who is homosexual has been a case where some guy really had to rub it out with some people about what he did, and how special he was for it. All I can say is: when you’re part of a team, it doesn’t make the rest of the group feel all that much better when you really put things about yourself that make you different from the rest of the group, it makes the rest of the group feel uneasy, if a group really publishes whatever it is that is so drastically different from them, it makes that person feel uneasy. I wouldn’t mind knowing someone was simply homosexual, just so that I would know not to get up in his face about it.

Good news, however, was this was only a temporary job, and I returned later, with the guy not back there. However, it was irritating to have to hear him say it, even to another coworker.

What do my words about one of my temporary work opportunities have to do with all of this? Well, I hope that the entire issue doesn’t involve getting people who are so preoccupied with what they do and how it makes them so special, as well as the other way around too, it just doesn’t make for a pleasant workplace. Not just about issues of sexuality, but issues of religion and ethnicity as well.

The real issue is why is the reinstitution of the ban not on the campaign discussion.

Are the DC homosexuals so in control the republican party?

now would be as good of time as any.

And yet, other than some people on the internet who are widely considered cranks, there's no movement toward such a thing at all. Where is the politician running on a secessionist platform? Where is the groundswell of support? You've been on here for years saying that it's coming any day now, just you wait. Any time now. And still nothing happens. You're the Harold Camping of political prognostication.

Exactly, it's a confusion of an underlying cause ("Who do I want to sleep with?") with a behavior ("Who am I sleeping with?").

Maybe I'm splitting hairs. But - for instance - me thinking "Hey, that new girl in HR is cute", is completely different from regularly getting a hotel room with her on Tuesdays after work.

Especially if you asked Mrs WBill, lol.

However, I think that the homosexual lobby doesn't make (doesn't WANT to make?) that jump in logic. It's more convenient for them to equate the thought with the action.

I know several marines and none embrace the disgraceful homosexualization of the military. If the General made these statements he was told he must or else—make no mistake about it.
