Herman Cain’s Attorney [Basically] Admits Affair - Studies in failures to communicate.

In breaking news this afternoon, a Georgia woman is claiming that she had a 13-year affair with Herman Cain. She says she has documents (whatever they might be) which can back it up. In what can only be described as the guiltiest-looking no-comment statement in the history of politics, Cain’s lawyer offered this absurd response (especially hilarious parts in bold):

*snip*

One of two things is true about this statement. Either Mr. Cain and his attorney are basing their views on what is an appropriate subject of media scrutiny for political candidates on the way politics work on another planet (perhaps another galaxy, even), or they are basically trying to telegraph to us that he completely did it. After following Cain’s campaign for the last several months, I would say either is equally likely. After all, basically the only reason a Presidential candidate would take a principled stand against admitting or denying that they had a multi-year affair on the woman to whom they are still married is if they have some principled objection to lying about having completely done it. And if that wasn’t the intended message, then Cain’s communications operation is even worse than we thought – which is really saying something.

“With a lawyer like that, who needs enemies. OUCH!

Either that or the lawyer is trying his best to cover this in kitty litter.

Its amazing how quick conservatives offload damaged goods while liberals stick with theirs through thick and thin.

Don’t really care. They can keep her at Camp David after the election.

Frankly, I think this will be a big deal for Cain’s campaign. Part of the charm of his campaign is that he’s an ordinary man who has been successful and has the morality and intellect to lead the nation. He has never held an elected office, after all, so we need to believe he’s ready for a huge jump from private citizen to President of the United States of America. But if this sordid story is true, he a hypocrite and a phony. There is no honest way around it. And it doesn’t matter that Clinton was too; we all know that. The Left was cool with that, but we conservatives expect more from our leaders than lies and claptrap.

him, his wife and God.

And those of us he wants to have vote for him to hold public office. If he can't uphold his marital vows, why do you think he'll uphold his oath once in office?

Allegedly, they slept together for 13 years. I’d like to see hard proof.

What is amazing is that Cain-n-Able didn’t think at least some of these women would come out of the woodwork? I mean what an idiot. He can’t be smart enough to be Prez...

I agree with him. One’s sex life is no one else’s business. Its a private matter and if he did have an affair, that’s between him, his wife and God.

BS. If the man can't manage to keep his wedding vows, the public has a right to know considering he wants our vote for President. I am not saying one should base their entire decision on this alone, but it is a factor for many people.

Because liberals don’t care about the character and morals of their candidates. Conservatives do.

Yeah... let’s assume it all comes out he had a mistress for 13 years? I’m not like shocked if it was true. It just means that Cain is a guy with feet of clay. Whether that sinks him, that should be up to the voters and not to the media.
