Financial Times ^ | Quentin Peel

Germany is the only country in Europe that can act to save the eurozone and the wider European Union from “a crisis of apocalyptic proportions”, the Polish foreign minister warned on Monday in a passionate call for more drastic action to prevent the collapse of the European monetary union. “I demand of Germany that, for your own sake and for ours, you help it survive and prosper,” he said. “You know full well that nobody else can do it. I will probably be the first Polish foreign minister in history to say so, but here it is: I fear German power less than I am beginning to fear German inactivity. You have become Europe’s indispensable nation.”

The emergence of the new Prussian Empire.

And what happens after the EU burns through all of Germany’s money?

They just want to keep kicking the can. How about Poland having its own money again? How about Poland NOT pledged to bailout irresponsible countries. How about countries not going into massive debt.

Maybe thats the answer??

Another "poor Germany" post. Why would Germany force their money on countries post-crisis? Huzzah for the social market economy, because you get to stay in it if you allow Germany to review your budget before your national government gets to see it, and accede to Germany's demands to pay back the loans that were forced on you before considering any more governmental spending (which means that Berlin becomes your national government)?

Just imagine the USA doing what Germany's doing now. Can anyone imagine that?

The emergence of the new Prussian Empire
The open emergence. Same kind of money games that the Prussian Empire played, too.

Germany can probably be guilted into trying to save Europe for awhile longer. The German public doesn’t like it and has taken their wrath out on the ruling conservatives, but the social/left party’s are even more wedded to a united Europe and will do the same thing.

It’s all just kicking the can down the road. The bottom line is European nations can’t afford their social welfare states - and those burdens are only growing. It’s just a matter of time till things really go bad, but they can probably kick the can for a few more years. Expect Germany to do all the things they claim they’d never do now in effort to save the Euro - it might buy them some breathing room but it won’t solve the problems.

"Same kind of money games that the Prussian Empire played, too."

Actually, I mis-spoke.

It's probably closer to the emergence of a new Frankish Empire. There's a coalition of Northern European states with France, Switzerland and Austria that are sure to break from the EU.

The British and the Latin states are likely to be left on their own.

"demands to pay back the loans that were forced on you"

Total and complete hogwash.

Admit it.

NOBODY FORCED anyone in Europe to borrow the money.

Admit it.

We can't know for sure what Germany will do, but the odds are good that the Ardennes forest will be involved.

If they do not they will never be paid. The fed has trillions floating around the EU who will pay that back.

If people think Germany is going to fork over money on demand then they are severely ignorant.
