Obama's Job Approval Drops Below Carter's
U.S.News & World Report ^ | NOVEMBER 28, 2011 | Paul Bedard

President Obama's slow ride down Gallup's daily presidential job approval index has finally passed below Jimmy Carter, earning Obama the worst job approval rating of any president at this stage of his term in modern political history.

Since March, Obama's job approval rating has hovered above Carter's, considered among the 20th century's worst presidents, but today Obama's punctured Carter's dismal job approval line. On their comparison chart, Gallup put Obama's job approval rating at 43 percent compared to Carter's 51 percent.

Back in 1979, Carter was far below Obama until the Iran hostage crisis, eerily being duplicated in Tehran today with Iranian protesters storming the British embassy. The early days of the crisis helped Carter's ratings, though his failure to win the release of captured Americans, coupled with a bad economy, led to his defeat by Ronald Reagan in 1980.

According to Gallup, here are the job approval numbers for other presidents at this stage of their terms, a year before the re-election campaign:

Not so true. In '76, it was the third time Regan had run in the GOP primary. He was known.

Obama is needed in Tehran to use his teleprompter to resolve the unrest as he has done so well with our debt crisis. Must go to Tehran! Moochelle could go for support - perhaps even be a starter for the camel races.

Congratulations Jimmy Carter. You are now the second worst president in U.S. history.

We have 2 congenital liars, a clown from TX, an on-again-off-again crackpot, a guy from UT who should be running as a dem and a businessman who’s not sure what he’s really about. Oh, and Bachmann who has successfully been marginalized mostly by her own doing. I think that’s probably a ‘No!’. Palin? It’s unclear what she’s about esp after talking so much and not deciding until the last millisecond.

Thanks for brightening my day by posting this!

Just want to take a moment to soak it all in, having lived through the very nadir of the Carter years. Quite a milestone.

Two things come to mind when I consider the black vote loyalties to Obama.

#1) Blacks commit most crimes on other blacks.

#2) That blacks invented "Necklessing" for political outcasts.

Field with real depth, huh?

One thing: I think the MSM has been enormously successful in using all of their despicable tools to marginalize Republican candidates who would have no issues were they Democrats. Palin is one of them, she's the candidate who is staying out because apparently she believes open warfare would be declared on her by the entire screaming class of the Left.

"Civility" and all that.

Well, I don't know that I'd call Perry a clown. A not-so-good-debater perhaps but not a clown.

And who are the congenital liars?

I would rank Buchanan as the worst, and Obama hasn’t quite gotten to that level. But yeah, he’s sinking below Carter.
