Reassessment Time? Prediction Time?
11-29-11 | Self

When I post things like this, folks here seem to think I'm a sell out, fake conservative, etc. Fine, I can't add enough words to convince...I admit I like to predict stuff, like to get others' opinions, quite frankley, because we all need some comfort in such times as I would hope we're mostly all friends here. Having said that, this is a friendly chat. I am trying to sort things out in both the primary and the G.E.

My take is: Cain is out; his fault or not, he's out. If he did do the things accused of, then he's stupid for not thinking it would come out. At the same time, we eat our own with regularity.

Newt is gonna challenge Romney and has his MANY flaws and hypocritical sides; if he wins the nomination, I think he CAN beet Obama. Obama has so many negatives, however, the MSM carries his piss bucket and hides them. Newt can win;he's better as a VP, however.

Romney I think can win the nomination and GE, however, there will be a revolt with FREEP and other conservative sites and groups and followers...that will cost us both the presidency and our nation. I really dislike Romney, but I don't think Newt is that much better. Romney is like a supreme court justice who was appointed by GHWBush...we saw his true colors after he was appointed. Obama knows about the schism Romney would create; that's why his regime is ignoring Newt.

Bachman is a VP candidate at best.

Santorum is a VP candidate as he may be able to deliver PA.

Palin is a wild card; rescuer? Is this why she is so silent?

Christie spouts off to stroke his ego; gut I like his bystander comment about Obama.

We aint got much and that concerns me, and, we are not united enough to defeat Obama if Palin doesn't jump in IF Romney is left standing. Our country is gone at that juncture.

It’ll be Newt with Marco Rubio or Bob McDonnell as VP.

I'm not convinced he can deliver PA. He lost his last campaign there by something like 18 points.

P.S. He talks about himself too much.

Some FReepers seem hell-bent on voting for Ross Paul as a third party candidate, which will lead to the re-election of Barack Clinton.

Again, Cain did NOT say reassess. He said assess. The latest little tart loser was a friend of he and his wife. She was single, mother and no job. He helped her with her rent.

He is staying. I am glad he is. I am tired of RINOS being chosen as our candidates.

Your post summarizes why I am seriously considering just sitting this election out if Cain drops out.

I dunno. Imagine you are a Jew and you are trying to decide between Hitler and Stalin...

I strongly disapprove of this kind of equivocation. If Cain is not guilty of this behavior, he should of course stay in. If it is true as Ms. White describes, he should drop out with apologies to all. There is no middle ground.

hope he stays, too, but it is apparent that the MSM has destroyed him...I’m watching to see what Palin does in endorsing...if she thought Cain was it, she would have backed him by now.

I also haven’t given up on Perry; he’ll make a come back.

That would be great; also, Santorum will be in the mix in some position as he would be instrumental in delivering PA from the lib/union thugs’ stranglehold.

Please don't! I am no fan of Romney (in fact, I'll write in or vote third party rather than support him), but a Romney-Obama race is all the more reason to go to the polls. If Mitt is the GOP nominee, then we are guaranteed to have a big government liberal in the White House for four years, and we need as conservative Congress as possible to restrain the winner of the presidential election. I don't care who you vote for in the top slot, but show up and vote for the most conservative candidate you can in every other election. We have to restrain Barack if he wins, and we have to restrain Mitt if he's the winner.

OR...

Maybe he can go on 60 Minutes and just say, "I have caused pain in my marriage."

Then go rape a woman or two, have sex with an intern, lie to a grand jury and become a self-proclaimed, political genius and be admired by the MSM!

It comes down to math. Emotions are easy to try to run with, but it’s math we have to deal with.

Let’s start with the easy one: Palin. The math is she has already missed filing deadlines in too many States. She is out.

Now we move on to Bachmann, Santorum, and Huntsman. Less than 10% polling in all major States, they are out.

Ron Paul has 15 to 18% of the polls. He has his section, but he won’t win any State. He is the wildcard (where will his support slosh around?).

So we now needs to look at Cain, Perry, Gingrich, and Romney.

Cain has hit a ceiling of around 27%. I don’t think he can get much higher in any of his polls.

Romney has a very hard cap of 30% in the polls. His only chance is winning a plurality where 30% slips over the top. He absolutely must win New Hampshire plus either Iowa or South Carolina in order to move that cap up.

Perry has plenty of money, good organization, and people lined up to endorse him... if he can prove he can win. He needs a win. He needs it bad. If he doesn’t end up in 2nd in either New Hampshire or Iowa, he is done.

Gingrich has the momentum. He is raising funds and he has timed his “peak” at the right time. If he wins Iowa, and he comes in second in New Hampshire, the he removes Perry from the race and probably Cain as well. If Romney has to run one on one against Gingrich, Gingrich wins the nomination hands down.

Of course we have 5 weeks before Iowa, and that is like 5 lifetimes in the world of politics. But this is my view as of this moment.

He has not been destroyed except in their eyes. People need to quit believing MSM is all powerful. They pulled things when Bush ran too.

I’ve said it several times and I am quite firm on this: If obama wins, the country goes down the tubes and the Democrats with it. If Romney wins, the country goes down the tubes and the republicans with it.

I will DEFINITELY sit this one out if Romney gets the nomination. As Claire Wolfe says, I will be “part of the problem” if I participate in such an election.

If Santorum were able to deliver PA he’d still be in the Senate. He would not have lost that ridiculous race to Bob Casey with his IQ of 37 and that absurd strategy of lying low and hoping people would think he was his dead father (which, apparently, they did).

If we let wild media accusations define Herman Cain, what makes you think they’ll back down before Newt Gingrich?

I think you are over estimating the influence of "FReepers". The "we will go third party" or "we will sit this out" faction here on FR constitutes a small minority of ideologues and purists. They by no means represent the large majority on FR who will vote for their favorite candidate in the primaries and, then, join together in the general election to defeat Obama.

Rubio another big amensty supporter. He back peddled on his policy statement when he ran for FL senator and we all believed him. Now after his FNC interview on Sunday I do not want to see him on any ticket. He was our alternative to Charlie Crist. Now Rubio is showing his RINO compulsions.
