Cain blasts critics for 'character assassination'

West Chester, Ohio (CNN) -- A defiant Herman Cain tried to turn the tables on his growing legion of critics and accusers Wedneday, blasting them for allegedly engaging in gutter politics and giving no indication of any immediate intent to abandon his embattled presidential campaign.

"They have been trying to do a character assassination on me," Cain told an enthusiastic crowd in Ohio. "They are attacking my character, my reputation and my name in order to try and bring me down."

"I don't believe that America is going to let that happen," he declared.

And where did I see this...that his wife did not know this woman or know about her.

Where did you see this? I read that she was a friend of both his wife and himself.

Cain to CNN: "We'll make a decision in the next several days."

So, what does that prove, exactly?

What he has admitted does not look good.

And?

What exactly did he do?

Do you have any idea?

Or do you just like to gossip?

Rush is a genius and knows his audience is broad and deep and supporting different candidates, who naturally change their minds as one or the other candidate rises or falls. He is also not about to give the Left ANYTHING to work with against a conservative, all who have flaws and their own percieved failings? Rush knows the mission. To beat Obama.

Everybody’s jumping off the SS Cain:

And in a blog post titled “When Book Tours Go Bad,” conservative adman Ladd Ehlinger went on a vitriolic rant about the Cain Train, complaining that the campaign had strung him along for months.

Via Ehlinger’s blog (h/t Slate):

All you are doing is playing your friends, your supporters, and some of my very good friends for your own fame and glory. And drinking parties. Yes - you drink like a fish, you flirt all over the place, and everyone who’s attended CPAC knows it. Nothing wrong with partying. Unless you lie about it. And try to deceive the public about it. If you want to be the American-Tea-Party Berlusconi, then be up front about it, don’t be a damned coward. You should be ashamed of yourself. (Emphasis added)

Still, a few Cainiacs appear to be sticking with their guy until the bitter end — and they don’t have very nice things to say about Cain’s newest accuser, Ginger White.

Wow. Pretty toxic if you ask me. Why are FReeper Cainiacs so slow at getting there?

There is proof, and you can bet DNC operatives have already seen it.

From SLATE:

According to Fox 5, “She says during the next 13 years, [Cain] would fly her to cities where he was speaking, and he lavished her with gifts. She says they often stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead and dined at The Four Seasons restaurant.”

If Cain flew White to various cities, the airlines would have records showing Cain as the payer and White as the passenger. And correlations with his travel schedule would be hard to explain as “trying to help a friend.”

~~~Think about it.
Clear as mud.
It is no wonder that Cain supporters (some) act like they’re on their period.
I don’t support him and this vacillating is even wearing me out.
If you can't handle unexpected challenges during the campaign (yes, even dirty ones)
I believe he's handling it by refusing to quit and firing back. Did you have another suggestion? What would it look like to "handle" these specific challenges? To me, they seem to be thin, half-hearted accusations, each one intended only to use up Cain's "face time" in each news cycle, and then fade away until a fresh one replaces it.
I don't mean to imply it's not conceivable Cain might do something differently. But if a claim against a candidate is false—and the GOP contenders can all look forward to a year of such claims from the Axelrats—is there an alternative to sticking to one's guns and waiting for the news value of each successive bimbo to grow shorter and shorter? Even if we find out one of the GOP candidates really did have a secret mistress, does it really matter? Warts and all, wouldn't any of them be better—and more moral—than the larcenous traitors now running the White House?
I don't get the impression you're a fan of Mr. Cain's. But all the Republicans will be in his position sooner or later. I suppose he could give up, but it seems to me that feeding the crocodile only makes the next Republican in line an easier meal for the beast.
I thought Herman Cain had Secret Service protection, and he is being assassinated?
Regardless if my weapon or accusation the results remain the same.
Sounds to me like they are really Obama plants and spies.
They are a bunch of broke dick bitches, and it cost real money to sue someone.
Sweep away all the unknowns and you have Cain himself saying he thought the woman was his friend, until she made this accusation, and that he was communicating with her from time to time because he was trying to help her financially.
This woman has a dodgy past at best, and if she is every bit the heel people claim she is - what the heck was Cain doing giving her financial support? Exactly how did this come about? At minimum it calls his judgment into question, and considering Cain is constantly telling us he will rely on good advice since he doesn't yet all the facts....well, it isn't very reassuring.
But you won’t hear Rush admit even what Cain admitted.
Cain was a radio talk show host. I think you are seeing Rush, Sean and some others rallying around him a little bit because of that. It is completely obvious Cain won't be the nominee.
“If it was me and I was innocent I would sue the living shiet out of these women for slander... Why isn’t THAT happening?”
Hmm.
Because he’s... guilty?
The denial here is spectacular.
