AUSTIN Rick Perrys presidential campaign plans to bring more than 600 influential Texans to Iowa this month as part of a major blitz for a strong finish in the first state to vote.
The massive Perry posse will include Republican elected officials such as Attorney General Greg Abbott and Comptroller Susan Combs, party stalwarts, consultants, lobbyists, financers and friends that will reach out to Republicans in the Hawkeye State and ask them to take a fresh look at the Texas governor.
Campaign director Joe Allbaugh confirmed the move Wednesday, saying the campaign will stagger the visits but has booked 200 Iowa hotel rooms. We know for sure when 600 are coming and when theyre going, he said.
Another widespread email to the Texas Federation of Republican Women might produce more volunteers, but the campaign is hoping about 700 will spend part of December and their New Years in Iowa, Allbaugh said.
In addition, to push for even more volunteer foot soldiers, the campaign appealed to thousands of followers on Twitter Wednesday, saying: Come to Iowa in January as part of @GovernorPerry's Strike Force! Will you join us? and listing an email response address.....

OMG...you mean to tell me that no good GW did something right? /s
That would disqualify her from my respect, but she’s become a fairly decent interviewer... or she had. I think she liked Sarah Palin and was pretty soft with her.
It was obvious last night that she despises Perry, which is just another plus for him in my book.
I was tickled at how well he handled her.
Hey where else are you going to find allegations of cheerleading, blithering idiocy, phonyism and axing all in one post? This is political analysis at its best, lol.
There are more blithering idiots on this site lately than there are camped down in Dealey Plaza.
Just think of these Texas folks as "community organizers". That will clear things up in that ACORN brain of yours! LOL!
I believe GWB named Abbott to the TX Supreme Court; then Abbott was elected on his own to the court. Then he was elected attorney general in 2002. Supposedly, he would like to run for governor but won’t challenge Perry.
You need to read more carefully. I was commenting to McLynnan about the comment
“pERRY IS A BLITHERING DOLT....He was a cheerleader in college”
from a newby poster.
And there are 1000's of Iowans heading to Texas at this time. ;o)
I take offense, there is nothing wrong with cargo. In fact my brother flew cargo in Viet Nam. A LOT of people have served on cargo planes and I thank them for their service.
...A Noobie......
I would say it’ll be interesting how the LSM spins this, except the LSM isn’t going to breathe a word of it. Rick is their one whose name must not be spoken, lest he manifest.
Ah, well, it was fun being a 2%er while it lasted :)
Senator Thad Cochran of MS was also a cheerleader, as was his former colleague, Chester Trent Lott.
You are so right. Maybe we should build a fence on both borders???
Cuccinelli is going to be one of the questioners on the debate/forum thing that Huckabee’s doing on Saturday night.
I had to check the thread to see what you mean.
I see what you mean.
:O
LOL!!!
Yes, not only do they blither, they also froth at their rabid little mouths.
I think you need to think through your posts a little more carefully.
He’s nothing but a coward trying to denigrate a service man.
He was on board with denigrating the silver star hero the other night because the guy likes Bush.
