You’re proving my point that people, however stupidly, pay attention to these things, on both sides of the aisle.

As you apparently agree, pols and their spouses are scrutinized, however stupidly at times. Therefore, pols and their spouses can conduct themselves in ways that court or avoid this.

That is all.

I don’t get the impression that anyone is ticked off about Callista’s necklace, nor about Michelle’s expenditures on clothes or jewelry.

I think the point is that whenever someone in this position goes over-the-top, say, with jewelry, they are bound to be written up in the gossip pages of newspapers and snarked about on the web, etc.

I guess that’s one reason why people wear $45,000 necklaces in the first place — to get attention!

Just seems to me that, more often than not, it’s not particularly positive publicity, no matter who (which party) is involved. So it just leads to wondering how much this is worth it to the pol and his spouse and why.

Yes. Apparently because she didn’t consider his marriage to his 2nd wife “valid”. ???? That’s a slippery kind of morality that’s hard to explain.

I’m not judging them, but don’t ask me to approve it. More importantly, he sold the country down the river because his own behavior was compromised, and Clinton knew about it. Checkmate!

Had lots of bad pictures taken. However, when I did a google search for images of her, none of the pictures that you posted showed up (which I believe show a change in makeup). The pictures I found showed a hard look and I really was not interested enough in her to keep looking.

She’s not running for President and this election I will probably vote for whoever the Republican nominee is, no matter what the wife or husband looks like.

you people are getting tiresome - so beneath what FR is about - at least, USED to be

I've been around a bit longer than you. I am well-aware of what FR is all about. But thanks for the history lesson.

Used to be, FREEPERS did some independent research, instead of swallowing and carrying the media hype.

Making fun of the look of Newt's 3rd wife is not doing "independent research'?

You kooks get kookier by the day.

Here's a bit of news for you kook, we made fun of RINO Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife back in 2003, which was before you ever signed on so it's nothing new. Live with it or go to a forum where the postings are more to your liking.

I’m pinging both of you on my response to MHG’s reply to me.

First, I seem to recall that both of you, AND I agree on a vast majority of issues. I hope you both remember that point because it’s important... MHGinTN - I also remember you and I steadfastly defending Cain during the whole “N-head Rock” BS as well. Main-iac7 - unless I’m wrong I believe you were one of the people who I posted with at length during all of the amnesty threads way back when.

I never accused Gingrich’s supporters of bashing Herman Cain. What baffled me, and still does, is how people are coming to the conclusion that Gingrich can get past all of his baggage, when Cain was destroyed by mere accusations that weren’t NEARLY as bad as what Gingrich has been PROVEN to have done to his previous wives. And that’s just talking about his infidelity - I’m not even talking about the things he has reportedly supported over the last few years alone (Global Warming, Amnesty, etc.. etc..).

While I totally understand the “anyone but Romney” attitude, I do not understand Gingrich’s sudden rise in the polls. I do NOT think Newt was behind the character assassination of Cain. Nor, do I think a huge number of those supporting Newt were acting against Cain.

I guess I’m having a bit of trouble explaining where I’m coming from. However, to say that I’m out there just bashing Newt supporters for their bashing of Cain - that’s simply not true.

Do I like Newt? NO. And, as a woman, I don’t know if I ever could. Could I vote for him in 11 months? I’m not sure. I’m clearly not in a position at the moment to make a “final decision” because I’m still so ticked about what was done to Cain. It’ll take a few days at least to be able to look at things in a purely politically objective way.
