Once a Clinton, always a Clinton.
Sunday's New York Times featured, as the lead article in its Style section, a heartwarming profile of Chelsea Clinton. In particular, the piece -- obviously intended to introduce the Third Clinton to Times readers and opinion-leaders everywhere -- addressed her career(s) so far and the reasons behind Chelsea's recently reported move to NBC News. Headlined "Chelsea Clinton, Living Up to the Family Name," the piece highlighted the former First Daughter's decision to come out from the shadows of her famous parents and be her own woman.
Well, not entirely her own woman. Chelsea's Wikipedia entry, besides listing the new gig with NBC News, identifies her as a "philanthropist, working through the Clinton Global Initiative." That would be First Father Bill's baby. I mean, philanthropy.
According to Times reporter Amy Chozick, here's what's been driving Chelsea.
"She wanted to stop pretending she was not Chelsea Clinton." In other words, she wants to cash in and join the Family Business.
The Times piece, of course, does not say that. It leaves a few other things out, too.

I’m really surprised that Harvard or Yale hasn’t bestowed an honorary law degree on her yet.
I’d like to see less, not more from Harvard and Yale making decisions, doing policy and influencing government. That’s been the problem in the USA. We’re run by a club not as a democracy. The USA is a big country with millions of competent people, and at the center of it should not be the northeast or New England and the self serving Ivy league.

I’d like to believe that a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Haravd, Yale, etc actually had standards (exempted, of course, for those whose parents had lost of money).
I’m afraid that the standards are now gone. The Cretin-in-Chief is example one.
So, unless the grad of those extinguished institutions has “Engineering, a basic Science, or Math” on the degree, it’s as valuable as a CNBC news broadcast.

I saw this over the weekend, and gave it my interpretation: when things were going poorly for her family--the allegations, the tawdry stories and situations her dad found himself in, the corruptness that her mom found herself in--she wanted to be as far away from being a Clinton as possible.
Now that her dad has left office and is being seen by many (wrongly) as being more of a statesmen, and her mom is being seen by many (wrongly) as having political and diplomatic skills as a senior Cabinet member, Chelsea has decided that being associated with the family name is not so bad.
Especially if she can cash in and make big bucks from only her family name.
And why isn’t she Chelsea Mezvinsky????? Making a liberal NOW style political statement?
I’m still puzzled at how Hillary was “Hillary Clinton” during the ‘92 campaign. Then, after Bill became president, all the news people started referring to her as “Hillary Rodham Clinton”, with no explanation of why they were doing that. I’m sure they got orders from up high to do that, but it was never explained to us little people. I assume Hillary was making her own political statement.
But then again, NOW thinks a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle, so strict NOW followers wouldn’t get married in the first place..............
Why is it okay for liberal people to be involved with hedge funds and other aspects of the evil financial/Wall Street cabal, but conservatives so involved are evil????
The media owns some pols, and in those they have a vested interest. They own Obama and Clinton. They don't own Herman Cain or Paul and the many others that they either regularly ignore or trash.
