For those who missed it:
Last Friday Nancy Pelosi told Talking Points Memo that she had all sorts of investigative dirt available on current GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich. Specifically, I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff. So
Newt Gingrich responded today by thanking Pelosi for the early Christmas present and noting
if shes suggesting shes going to use material that she developed while she was on the ethics committee, that is a fundamental violation of the rules of the House and I would hope that members would immediately file charges against her the second she does it. Annnnnd now were being told (via Weasel Zippers) it would be cruel* of me to use the word frantically that what the former Speaker of the House really meant by her comments to TPM was that there was plenty of public record information about Newt Gingrich available. Not that there was any private dirt. Nope. Not at all. Representative Pelosi then went on to reveal that the Red Sox had won the 2004 World Series and that Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been indicted on felony charges.

Oh, and let's not forget those Crazy Eyes...
I’m having so much fun tonight! LOL!!!! Pelosio takes her broom and retreats with her flying monkeys! YAHOOO!
Botox poisoning does terrible things to the brain.
The community college I work for sent out a paper to inform us of words we can no longer use and I’m afraid the the terms “mental” and “midget” were on the list.
The politically correct term would be “intellectually challenged” and “person of short stature”
So , Nancy Pelosi is an intellectually challenged individual of short stature.
Doesn’t have quite the same feel now, does it.
Nanners should stay out of it for her own self interest. That mud slinging goes both ways and she’s not ivory snow clean either.
Some FReepers mentioned yesterday that Pelosi was breaking the law if she released anything from the meeting she was talking. FReepers, for the most part, know of what they speak.
Isn’t it refreshing to have someone who hits back at Pelosi, and within a half day?? Now THAT is HARDBALL. Good for Newt! Call her on her threat to illegally disclose investigation materials, and throwing her weight around as if Newt should give her pass like the RINO establishment does. Not one of the establishment defends Newt against dirty tricks Nancy, yet it was he who paved their careers in 1994 with a blow out victory after FORTY YEARS of socialist control!!!!
I hate her with the fire of a thousand suns.
Nancy forgets that Newt knows the laws. She isn’t messing around with some idiot.
Let’s whack her upside the head with the gavel:)
The Queen of White Liberal Trash...
Nan should have learned to be more cautious around wringers
Cerebrial fecalosis should work as those are precise medical terms.
Heh heh heh. Newt basically said “bring it on be-ay-tch.” And she’s left saying “never mind.” Love it.
Wow four people spent a year going over 1,000 pages of his 'stuff'. They must be some real sharp cookies to get through almost three pages a day.
The Queen of White Liberal Trash...
Yep. But in her case. She doesn’t come ‘cheap’. You would have to tie a ‘McKinley’ on a string and drag it through The Hamptons. ;-) No different, really.
All Newt has to do is promise a detailed investigation on Nanzi’s financial dealings since coming to Washington.
” Nancy forgets that Newt knows the laws. She isnt messing around with some idiot. “ <<
Two Titans. Two Speakers.
Refreshing, I say again, REFRESHING! Isn’t if a wonderful thing to have someone, FINALLY, who is willing and able to play smash mouth politics, within the hour practically, who has the inside track on knowledge and timing. Newt is just the coolest Speaker for our side in half a century?
Neut whining about someone else’s ethical lapses is nothing short of comical.
Actually, in this case it does.
And let's not forget those disjointed, irritating hand gestures which never seem to be sinc'd to her mouth. A cyborg?
Newt Pelosi can Biden me.
She deserves Newt. Newt is channeling Cujo now.
OMG Shivers that thought “four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year.” I think being locked up with her can drive a person to jump out the window or do something drastic.
I remember that photo as if it were yesterday...OBAMACARE. They were so “open” and fair including republicans...I detest Pelosi
For anyone wondering why Newt is at the top of the heap (for the time being) - just read how he took Pelosi apart in this episode.
Hi RitaOK, LOOK at the difference in Newt’s speech when he became Speaker of the House and his actions vs what we know Nancy Pelosi did.
Sorry it is a bit long...but talk about a refreshing reminder of the man Newt is..
On the first day of the 104th Congress the new Republican majority will immediately pass the following reforms aimed at restoring the faith and trust of the American people in their government:
First, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also to apply equally to the Congress.
Second, select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of the Congress for waste, fraud or abuse.
Third, cut the number of House committees and cut committee staffs by a third.
Fourth, limit the terms of all committee chairs.
Fifth, ban the casting of proxy votes in committees.
Sixth, require committee meetings to be open to the public.
Seven, require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase.
Eight, guarantee an honest accounting of our federal budget by implementing zero baseline budgeting.
We then say that within the first 100 days of the 104th Congress we shall bring to the House floor the following bills, each to be given full and open debate, each to be given a full and clear vote, and each to be immediately available for inspection. We made it available that day. We listed 10 items.
A balanced budget amendment and line-item veto,
A bill to stop violent criminals, emphasizing among other things an effective and enforceable death penalty.
Third was welfare reform.
Fourth, legislation protecting our kids.
Fifth was to provide tax cuts for families.
Sixth was a bill to strengthen our national defense.
Seventh was a bill to raise the senior citizens` earning limit.
Eighth was legislation rolling back Government regulations.
Ninth was a commonsense legal reform bill, and
tenth was congressional term limits legislation.
Our commitment on our side, and this is an absolute obligation, is first of all to work today until we are done. I know that is going to inconvenience people who have families and supporters. But we were hired to do a job, and we have to start today to prove we will do it. Second, I would say to our friends in the Democratic Party that we are going to work with you, and we are really laying out a schedule working with the minority leader to make sure that we can set dates certain to go home. That does mean that if 2 or 3 weeks out we are running short we will, frankly, have longer sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We will try to work this out on a bipartisan basis to, in a workmanlike way, get it done. It is going to mean the busiest early months since 1933.
Wonder how we will stop her from leaking the garbage?
Better to just jail her now and save the trouble of inditing her.
I guess that first one should be amended to: First, require all laws (except insider trading) that apply to the rest of the country apply equally to Congress.
Yeah, I would probably have had to strangle the creature.
Well, it would be time to keep a close eye on what is public and not-public from those investigations. If there is one whiff of not-public, it’s time to take Nancy’s oversized gavel and play some Whack-A-Mole.
Just by threatening to reveal confidential information, she has already committed an ethics breach.
Among many other breaches.
I would think Pelosi might consider there is not much dirt about Newt that has not already been brought up. I would not think there can be much left that would not be a rerun.
"Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term, including claiming tax-exempt status for a college course run for political purposes. Following an investigation by the House Ethics Committee Gingrich was sanctioned US$300,000. Gingrich acknowledged in January 1997 that "In my name and over my signature, inaccurate, incomplete and unreliable statements were given to the committee". The House Ethics Committee concluded that inaccurate information supplied to investigators represented "intentional or ... reckless" disregard of House rules. All of the ethics charges were dropped and what they finally charged him with is that he filed false statements in response to those charges in at least one case. That's it. He wasn't censured, wasn't found in violation of any ethics rules, and agreed to pay the House the $300,000 to compensate for the expenses incurred by the inaccurate information he provided.
Special Counsel James M. Cole concluded that Gingrich violated federal tax law and had lied to the ethics panel in an effort to force the committee to dismiss the complaint against him. The full committee panel did not agree whether tax law had been violated and left that issue up to the IRS. In 1999, the IRS cleared the organizations connected with the "Renewing American Civilization" courses under investigation for possible tax violations."
This is amazing. It didn’t even occur to her that revealing this information would be prohibited by House rules, let alone, unethical on its face. Yet she sits on the House Ethics Committee. Unbelievable! Newt should call for a House ethics investigation of Pelosi to determine how much confidential information she has improperly (illegally?) disseminated since she has been on the committee.
Well, he did say it was an early xmas present.
But not as comical as your whining about him.
If she says something that sounds right, it's time to check the batteries in your CO detectors.
Why don’t you reread your highlighted text.
Whatever. I'll bet those "politically correct" speakers feel free to use the most vile filthy invectives with impunity.
At the close of business on Jan. 4, 2007, Pelosis first day as speaker, the national debt was $8,670,596,242,973.04 (8.67 trillion), according to the Bureau of the Public Debt, a division of the U.S. Treasury Department. At the close of business on Oct. 22, it stood at $13,667,983,325,978.31 (13.67 trillion), an increase of 4,997,387,083,005.27 (or approximately $5 trillion).
The $4.997-trillion increase in the national debt since she took the gavel is more debt than the federal government amassed from the speakership of Rep. Frederick Muhlenberg\ of Pennsylvania, who became the first speaker of the House on April 1, 1789, to the start of the speakership of Rep. Newt Gingrich of Georgia, the 58th speaker, who took up the gavel on Jan. 4, 1995.
Under Pelosis watch the national debt skyrocketed.
Under Pelosis watch Congress adjourned without passing a budget for the first time since 1974.
Under Pelosis watch the number of women in congress was reduced to numbers reminiscent of the 1970s.
Under Pelosis watch the democRAT party was handed its biggest losses in generations.
By any reasonable or measurable standard, Nancy Pelosi, as a leader, was a colossal failure.
She was great at one thing though, creating jobs for Republican lawmakers.
Someone told her (Newt I think) that if she discloses some of that information, which is confidential, she could be subject to severe, possibly criminal, penalties.
........Somewhere in Chicago the call went out to get a large dog muzzle and chain with Nancy P engraved on them.”
What Pelosi is doing with that comment is arming her partners the press...who will be taking the Information and hounding Newt with endless questions that have already been answwered many times over. Their work for Bambi will be to stain Newt with the questions over and over until what the uninformed voter will know about Newt is formed by the questions.....
