The operation to occupy a vacant foreclosed home in Brooklyn on behalf of a homeless family from New York City appears to be a success. The front door of the two-story brick house on Vermont Street apparently was unlocked when the marchers arrived.

Alfredo Carrasquillo, the father of the homeless family, thanked the marchers for at least temporarily providing them with a home.

Police who escorted the marchers through Brooklyn stopped when the marchers arrived at the home and remained a distance away as the celebration of the “liberation” of the foreclosed home began. A brass band played, people danced and food was passed around as the cleanup crew got down to business.

Here’s one of lifes little warning signals.

Yes, it is. Those of us who are paying attention to the significance of such things know that no good will come of this.

And who’s paying for the heat, gas, water and electricity? The OWSers will have to (gulp) get JOBS to pay for them.

Maybe they’ll just have ‘campfires’ in the living room, lol. Expect some burned down homes once occupiers occupy.

Not only that but the water probably isn't turned on in these homes. Expect a house full of feces before they move on to another.

You are right. These cities that welcomed these OWS misfits are suffering the consequences now. They reap what they sowed.

Looting rights, here we go. Now the illegals bandwaggon of squaters will grow and the coward will be singing to Auschwitz: too bi to fail, to many to throw accross the border, too many to jail, too many boo hoo hoo.

In Germany the excuse was “I did not know”, in slut America it is I cannot do anything about it.

The term is squatters.
Activists have been on MSNBC for weeks talking about this as a strategy. Given that they cant give the deed away any family really trying to live in those houses and make them a home will have to fix them up knowing eviction will come some day. I guess the political statement will be when they are evicted from them someday on camera.

Adverse possession

Squatter creeps in NYC used to fight eviction by claiming they had actually improved and upgraded an empty and currently unused building

A little thing called paying the property tax and keeping it current comes into play

.

That used to be called trespassing and punishable by law.

There can be a little catch

Say you have a neighbor that uses a strip of your property for a good length of time - and you do not protest or stop them

They can actually gain legal title to that portion of land under certain circumstances

Adverse Possession

It happens

The court system in NYC is so out of whack that a landlord/owner is at a huge disadvantage when he attempts to evict a tenant - even if severe health and safety violations exist

NY NY

No thanks!

[Adverse Possession]

Yes, I’m familiar with that. There is another word for it but I can’t think of it now.
