Obama attacks Republican economic theory: ‘It’s never worked' (Unemployment Bush 5%, Obama 10%)
washington post ^ | 12/7/2011 | By Anne E. Kornblut

President Obama, in one of his most expansive speeches to date, declared on Tuesday that supply-side economics is a failure and called “gaping inequality” across the country a moral shortcoming that is distorting American democracy.

Obama’s speech in Kansas was not just another attack on Congress, or a plea to pass his jobs bill. He did not roll out a new, snappy slogan – such as telling the audience that “we can’t wait” to enact new laws.

Instead, Obama delivered a searing indictment of Republican economic theory, setting the stage for the coming presidential campaign. Summoning the image of a populist Theodore Roosevelt — in the same town (Osawatomie) where Roosevelt delivered a famous speech on economic fairness in 1910 — Obama deployed the language of right and wrong, fairness and unfairness, in a lengthy address that aides said he largely wrote himself.

The theory of “trickle down economics,” which holds that greater wealth at the top generates jobs and income for the masses below, drew some of Obama’s harshest criticism.

Obama has just set the stage for Newt.

Either Gingrich will make good on his boast and rebut Obama's speech Newt's detractors will be vindicated. Gingrich has challenged Obama to Lincoln Douglas style debates on the issues and if Obama ducks, Gingrich has vowed to dog his steps and make Gingrich's rebuttal the subject of the news cycle.

All right Newt, let's hear it.

We may very well be more equal now.

We’re all just simply poorer.

If Obama wants fairness, then do it. Prosecute the individual bankers who destroyed the US economy with their recklessness. Instead he leaves them alone, goes to them for political donations, but declares war on everyone who is rich for the crimes of the few in their class. Obama blew his chance to be a good POTUS. His first act was to stabilize the US economy and loosen all burdens on business so they can pay down their debts, shift capital and begin to hire people for recovery. To cement the support of the people, he should have relentlessly prosecute the individual banker CEO’s, GWB admin members who sat and let the mortgage system destruct. He did neither. Instead he passed tax raising health plans and more regs to kill off business. He listen to the Sec of Treasury and Fed Reserve and did not want to demoralize the banking industry with prosecutions of bank CEO’s. Result a public seething at the situation and high unemployment. If the next POTUS will do the above two tasks he will be guarantee reelection in 2016 even if the economy is slightly better, otherwise he will be a one term President.

So the guy is a full out self professed communist.

Why is he not coming out and telling the world strait up what he is with pride then?

I hope that President Obama keeps writing his own speeches. Unfettered free enterprise is the economic theory that produces healthy economies and tax revenues, not big government.

It is ironic that Obama and the Democrats undermine free enterprise with oppressive taxes, government regulation, burdensome reporting requirements, and then blame the Republicans when the system fails.

The Democrats are constantly attempting to force the people into their version of utopia of to each according to their needs, from each according to their ability. The record of socialism, communism, fascism is of 100% failure, except this time because the Democrats will do it "right!"

This is the beginning of an organized campaign push by the JournOlist gang to help reelect Obama.

This attack on market principles by the scumbags will build up continuously over the next 5 months.

Be very wary of any GOP politician or strategist who concedes this war without a fight.

Just a simple question. How would history have changed if Hitler had been removed in the early thirties before he was able to kill millions of innocent people? How would history have changed if by some miracle Stalin had never risen to power; or Mao; or Pol Pot. The continuing goal of American liberalism, communism, socialism and anarchy is to crush freedom and liberty, to enslave people to government tyranny, to destroy capitalism, and to establish rule by the elite. They seek eternal power over innocent people. They harm, mutilate, lie, destroy, demean, and cheapen human life. We can allow ourselves to be subjugated and subservient to them, or......................

let’s be fair - Bush prospered from a housing bubble which was fueled by indefensible loans to bad credit risks, secured by properties that were vastly overvalued and built by lots and lots of illegal labor.

The housing boom was a fig leaf to hide the fact that we have an anemic economy. That leaf blew away. Now we see how much of our national security we have sold down the river - our very infrfastructure - to finance the rest of the world.

I don't want to “be fair”. The facts are the facts regardless how we arrive at the facts.

The GOP better start contrasting themselves from the Rats and Obama.

Barry might deride Republican economic theory, but if you want to see the end result of Democrat economic theory watch the TrueTV program “Hardcore Pawn”.
