Perry Could Rise in Iowa, Polling Data Shows

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whom some pundits had written off as the GOP's nominee, may find a second coming in Iowa, if new poll data holds up.

As Mitt Romney's campaign has suffered a startling decline in recent weeks, only to see Newt Gingrich eclipse the former Massachusetts governor's front-runner status, the battle for the Iowa caucuses set for Jan. 3 has become a wide-open race.

New survey data prepared for the Perry campaign and shared by a source close within the campaign shows that the Texas governor may be poised to do much better in next month’s Iowa caucuses than earlier polls predicted.

The survey by the Austin, Texas-based Baselice & Associates firm shows Perry firmly in third place with 13 percent — trailing Gingrich’s 29 percent and Romney's 19 percent. The poll was conducted Dec. 3-4.

But the internal polling data shows that Perry’s “strongly positive” rating has jumped 6 points since the firm’s previous Iowa survey, just three weeks ago.

And, significantly, Perry’s positive rating among likely Iowa caucus-goers is at a commanding 67 percent. And a stellar 71 percent view him positively after having seen one of his commercials.

Other numbers that suggest a potential rise: Perry stands at 78 percent positive among self-identified tea party members, according to the survey.

But he also enjoys strong support among Iowa’s undecided voters, at 71 percent............

I like Newt and Perry in that order.

I’ll take Gov. Perry’s straight-talking “bumbling” over the TeleprompTerKid any day. I think Alfred E. Obozo would freeze up himself at Gov. Perry’s shoot-from-the-hip comments, especially on topics deemed “taboo” inside the beltway. I think the pResident is the one who will be babbling in a debate, especially if TOTUS refuses to attend.

For all of his flaws, he may be our best bet.

He is flawed, he's made some mistakes and he sure isn't great at those debates (although there has been a marked improvement), but IMO he is the most conservative with the best leadership record.

As of now, he's got my vote.

I think you can put a stuffed squirrel on the end of a stick to debate 0 with little child hiding behind the podium to make chirping noises each time the stuffed squirrel is asked a question, and the stuffed squirrel will beat 0 in the election.

"WTF did I just say...?"

I like that expression. It's real.

I've seen similar expressions on three and four-star generals when working through a challenge.

P.S. How many people remember that Obozo had to have TOTUS attend the gathering of school children so that he would know what to say? The pResident can’t even speak to children without TOTUS there to tell him what to say! And people think he would do better than Gov. Perry? Not possible! Plus, I guarantee if Obozo tried that little “third finger” thing he’s done with so many others, he will be really sorry, because Gov. Perry has his number and knows he’s a punk! Besides that, I don’t think the pResident would debate Gov. Perry, because that would open him up to all kinds of questions about the things Gov. Perry has been fighting him on in Texas (EPA, border, etc.)

That's a very good point.

That’s the expression you get from Perry when asking for his name.

Perry’s internal favorable numbers are very encouraging.

We must remember that although Newt is getting the big numbers right now, his support is not stalwart. It is paper thin and based on the assumption that he can beat Obama.

If Perry could get the jump in Iowa, the press would not be able to ignore him any more and the more people see of him, the more they like him.

Fingers crossed.

Hard to tell if you're just flinging poo and hoping some sticks or trying to be funny.

Neither one is working very well. ;-)

Please be advised that if you’re gonna come on Perry threads to make idiotic insults that you are now in a Perry zone.

A Perry zone means that, although I and a number of other Perry supporters are not going on Newt threads to trash him or any other threads (are there any threads for Huntsman, Bachmann or Santorum??) to trash other candidates.

However, here on Perry threads we know only three kinds of people are posting.

1) Perry supporters
2) People who are considering Perry and want to know more
3) and mindless Perry bashers.

So this is a zone where we are free to insult your candidate in any way we can think of and there are many ways.

The American people have been beaten into the dirt for 20 years subsiding millions of illegals who routinely disrespect our laws, rules and borders.

And this AH tell the American people they don’t have a heart regarding this epic gang rape of our country?

Too bad Perry doesn’t have enough self respect left to bail out of this and retire on his fat government pension.

Public pay phones will make a comeback before Perry does.

Perry was the first to “fling poo”, just like his moronic supporters. Not even viagra will bring La Raza Rick’s campaign to back from its limpness.

You’re kind of pathetic flinging this lame stuff all on your own.

Isn’t there a Ron Paul thread for you to hang out on?

Or some keywords you need to spam?

Just trying to help you out, y’know...

If the intellect of Perry’s rah rah section is reflective of Perry’s own faculties, they are just as dumb as he is.

Pathetic.
