Tea Party Leaders: Rand Paul is Wrong on Newt Gingrich
US News and World Report ^ | 12/10/2011 | Mallie Jane Kim

Posted on 12/10/2011 10:11:49 AM PST by katiedidit1

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul's media blitz bashing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as unworthy of Tea Party support isn't hitting its mark, at least not among leaders of the Tea Party Express, Tea Party Patriots, and Tea Party Nation.

"I want people to go out there and work for who they believe in," says Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer, who says she or any individual shouldn't dictate who people in the movement ought to vote for.

"These people are intelligent. They're not just sheeple that are following somebody," Kremer says, adding that Tea Partyers haven't coalesced behind one candidate yet. "They are looking at the issues; they're researching."

If Newt became president, there is no way to know which Newt would govern. My hope would be that he's had enough time to reflect on his past policy mistakes and that he would focus on and implement those policies that have been shown to work well in the past.

Newt realizes that the time left for the country to change course grows short. He must fight his tendency to get into the weeds by dabbling in grandiose ideas and discussions better suited to a faculty lounge than the oval office.

Why is it that you pure Newt posters seem to avoid things like talking up Newt’s new book?

You mean the actual published new book, "The Crater" about the Civil War?

No, of course you mean the "rumored" "post election" book on "climate change."

There are many OTHER Tea Party folks that support Gingrich. A recent poll showed a leaning towards Newt by various members of tea parties. I would imagine that Tea Party Nation endorsed Rand Paul. Rand Paul is trying to present himself as the spokesman for America’s many Tea Parties..he is not. He is no more their spokesperson than Karl Rove is the spokesman for the entire republican party.

This is funny as all get-out coming from Kremer, who starts running her pie-hole publicly trying to do just that about once a week.

“Tea Party “LEADERS?” The Tea Party movement has NO LEADERS. We are autonomous.”

EXACTLY! “We the People” are the Tea Party.

Some idiots even try to claim that nutcase Ron Paul is a Tea Party leader while he is neither Tea Party, conservative or GOP.

I can tell you that the vast majority of people in our Tea Party will not vote for Gingrich or Romney or Paul. We want a true Conservative.

So what you are saying is that in your estimation, if Gingrich gets the nom, the tea partiers will vote enmasse for Obama.

Well, like you said, the Tea Party has no leaders. Fortunately, I doubt the real tea partiers will pay any more attention to your drivel than to Rand Paul's.

If Newt became president, there is no way to know which Newt would govern...

Does his laid out agenda not speak for itself?

None if it will matter without a Republican congress since all repeals and new legislation necessarily begins there. That's why he asks people to be "with him, not for him" because it'll be a hard fought struggle, not something a president can do by fiat.

Will he be, at times, mercurial and frustrating? You betcha. Anyone would be. He could be a very good president or he could be unfocused, aimless and pivot so much he wears out his staff. Romney would be feckless, Newt's at least shown to be a fighter.

Ultimately I'm still of a mind to believe Obama wins reelection regardless of the GOP nominee.

So TEA Party leaders have given up on endorsing conservatives.

I will crawl on glass to vote for this RINO if he gets it. He is certainly no conservative and neither is Romney. So, we get conned again. What else is new?

“Newt’s certainly not unapologetically in support of the individual mandate and abandoned the concept”

You sure about that?

This is a recent interview which directly contradicts his campaign propaganda:

Since all I did was recite some basic historical facts, I can only take your comment to mean that not only are you ignorant, but proudly so.

It’s one thing to be ignorant, it’s another to be willfully so and to brag about it.

Newt is no conservative

He has a 90% lifetime ACU rating which ain't chopper live {it's not as good as Michelle Bachmann but it's better than sanctimonious, righteous Mr. Perfect Christian, Rick Santorum}.

I would imagine you find it interesting that most Newt supporters - or those thinking about being one - readily admit his flaws and foibles.

Rarely have I ever seen a Newt detractor admit is plusses and accomplishments.

Hmmm. Which side is operating out of ignorance and denial and which side is operating out of a calculated decision on what our options really are?
