Bachmann’s shameless, transparent play for Cain’s votes only made her look too weak to attract those votes with her own platform. Besides the timing is bad...those voters mostly bumped up Newt two weeks ago.

Intrade changed over night...only a 7 pt gap between Romney and Gingrich; I’m surprised Perry didn’t go up.

Romney moved from 47% to 44%.

“we don’t LOVE Newt - heck we barely even like him.”

With your permission, that shall be my new tagline.

Morning after report;

I thought Perry may have won this debate or taken a close second to Newt. Are we in bizzarro world?

Newt did real good.

Romney? Why is this liberal standing on the stage in a G.O.P. debate?

Paul didn’t sound too insane this time.....bravo.

Michele....just stop. My goodness talk about the bloom coming off a rose.

Santorum.....Why is he running?

I genuinely like all of those candidates except Romney but Bachmann and Santorum need to pull out NOW.

Paul, if he places lower than third in Iowa needs to pull out.

Romney, once he loses Iowa and South Carolina needs to quit.

I look forward to a fight between Newt and Perry right up to the convention. Should Newt win, great. Should Perry win, at least the debates with Newt will have sharpened his skill enough to at least TRY not to sound like a complete idiot next to Obama.

The substance of his answers are more important than his debating skills. He is not the master debater. I imagine he has some type of coach, or agree he should.

Although, I remember when Ronald Reagan had the worst debate ever. He said he was over-prepared and told his coaches to take a hike. He went on to win that election.

It's not too late for Perry. I was very pleased with the debate last night. He surely got Romney reeling. Now, we will just have to wait and see.

If a bitch-slapper is what you’re looking for, Newt is the right guy. There is no one more skilled at attacking and ducking.

I don’t think Perry won the debate. Sometimes people might say that one person “won” the debate because that person performed better compared to expectations than other debate participants. I think compared to expectations going into the debate that Perry did perform best. This would not be difficult for Perry to achieve given the very low expectations we have for him.

But judging the performances on an absolute basis, and not compared to expectations going into the debate, Gringrich and Romney still come out on top. Having said that, Romney really screwed up in my opinion with his $10K bet challenge.

You mean the examples given; "The Evil Empire" and "Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall" notwithstanding, and the additional "Axis of Evil" rhetoric from W?

Not analogous. The Soviet Union, North Korea, Iraq, and Iran were our enemies. We weren't acting as a mediator in any negotiations involving them.

Why should there be any negotiations with the murdering so-called "Palestinians"? They have chronically declared war on Israel. The Israelis need to push back, drive them out and confiscate their real estate.

That is up to the Israelis to decide for themselves. The reality is that the US is still involved in the negotiation process along with a number of other countries. We have committed to a Palestinian state per George W Bush.

Bachman - true conservative, the one that should be on top

***

Yes, she should. But her endless annoying self promotion and hacking on the competition is what has brought her down. She is shameless. I ‘ve known women like her — they will stop at nothing to WIN — to me it’s a character flaw.

Just be WHO YOU ARE. That’s what Newt is doing — that’s why he’s winning. He doesnt’ need to bring anyone else down, because he just naturally rises above them.

And it’s sad — because Bachmann is genuinely conservative ...she’s just not genuinely herself.

Did any of them really articulate something different or dance like a marionette to avoid upsetting the nativists?

The opposite is true. They are pandering to the pro-amnesty crowd. The nativists are in favor of the Rule of Law and protecting our soverignty. We decide who we will allow to enter this country and live here permanetly. It is not a self-selecting process. No country in the world permits people to come into their country without authorization nor do they reward illegals.

You ignore Newt dismissed Sawyer's attempt to saddle him with the Pew Hispanic Center's 15 years.

I didn't ignore it. I read Newt's written plan. There is no time limit on it. He lied. Sawyer was trying to nail him down and he just lied and said it was 25 years.

Read Newt's plan

George W. Bush and Obama have said the US supports the two-state solution. So do the Israelis. If Palestinians are evil and not a real people, then Newt should say we no longer support the two state solution.

Pretty much my assessment. I am moderately comfortable with a Perry - Newt race. Better than Romney - Paul or something like that.

No, they aren’t as conservative as Bachmann or Santorum but those two have serious character flaws they need to work on.

Paul is just too insane for the game.

Yeah, and everyone before him...Screw that it's a stupid idea.

Just how is one president bound by decisions of his predecessors, just as any legislative body is not bound by the actions of any prior legislative body (except for a Constitutional Amendment)?

Besides, just how many "Palestinian states" do they need?

Most of the area is traditional "Palestine" (an area) including Lebannon, part of Syria, part of Jordan and, oh yeah, Israel.
