DNC says Tea Party fits Newt Gingrich to a Tea - Gingrich is the 'original Tea Partier'

President Obama's attack dogs have a new target — Newt Gingrich.

The Democratic National Committee on Sunday released a campaign ad that tags Gingrich as the “original Tea Partier.”

The ad hit the Internet less than four hours after Gingrich showed he could take the heat as the latest Republican front-runner during Saturday’s GOP primary debate in Iowa.

Gingrich’s foes warned his temper would erupt under a combined grilling from his opponents and the media.

But he didn’t self-destruct, and so became the latest target of the Obama re-election campaign, which until now had reserved its ammo for Mitt Romney.

“I want to invite you to a party — a Tea Party,” a smiling Gingrich says in the DNC video.

The ad tags Gingrich’s positions — from calling in 1984 to privatize Social Security, to seeking to end Medicare in 1995 to protecting tax loopholes in 2011.

“Newt Gingrich was a Tea Party politician , even before there was a Tea Party,” DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in a post-debate statement.

Gingrich polling so far shows he’s been able to fend off attacks on his record, including sniping from fellow Republicans, who argue Gingrich has shown himself to be temperamentally unsuited to be in the White House.

Thanks for the great press, DNC.

I guess these idiots still don’t understand that the “original tea partiers” are THE PEOPLE THAT FOUNDED THIS FREAKING COUNTRY!

I'd like to see Obama bring this up in a debate with Newt, let Gingrich educate the audience on the truth about the Tea Party, not the media/DNC crap.

Good, and I hope he wears that label like badge of honor and a sure sign that he’s going in the right direction. (His enemies are honoring him, hopefully, all the way to the WH.)

The Baracalypse reveals the Islmo-Marxist-Chicago Gangster called Obama. What do you expect from such an one? He leads the lynch mob. Newt can handle it.

The Dems just think that linking anyone with the Tea Party will ruin them. They think that Big Media has tainted the Tea Party. Bwahahahaha!

Speaker Gingrich doesn’t run away from the Tea Party like the current Speaker Boehner. This is more than just getting Obama out of the WH - we have to get an effective Speaker of the House. Perhaps Gingrich’s election will help us in that effort as well

Oh I can’t tell you how delicious this posting is - in so many ways. And yes, Newt is in many ways an original tea partier!

Not entirely convinced Newty's entitled to wear the moniker, but nor should the DNC say that like it's a bad thing!

It's pretty cool that the DNC is running campaign ads for our side.

GO, NEWT!!

Obama is an expert at demonizing of his enemies. But, this time everyone is so pissed off about how he has screwed up the nation in the last three years that maybe the voters won't believe all the lies and slashing.

The Democrats have a POS running for President. If they were smart they would dump him and find a candidate.

It is beyond my small brain to figure out why the Democrats back this man. Are they blind to what he is doing?

Well - at one time, Newt actually pretended to be a fiscal conservative. Many of us remember “his” “Contract With America”... even though chunks were vetoes by Little Willie. Other parts were half-heartedly pursued, and many of the good changes made were undone by back-room deals and Clintonista wrangling.

But still - Newt at least acted like a conservative back then. Too bad he has decided to be a RINO douchebag... Of all the reasons I cannot vote for Newt, and it isn’t the infidelity - though that is an awfully clear picture of “character” - its his proclivity to make decisions with zero evidence or research. His casting call on the couch with Pelosi sealed it for me. He jumped off the high-dive with a fully-committed and adamant power-jump - blaming mankind for global warming, and calling for the Cap and Tax fraud. I will not forget his bad judgment on that - and no apology will bring me around. That kind of very bad judgment needs to be kept FAR from the White House.

The coming election may very well be a bellwether year for voter disenfranchisement. There will probably be no candidates on the November ballot that I can, in good conscience vote for. When McLame got the nomination last time and I held my nose to vote for him in the General election, I was absolutely sick to my stomach for days (of course, the news of Obama’s “landslide victory” didn’t help). But I vowed that I would not do that again. A candidate doesn’t have to be perfect (I’m not, and no-one else is...), but he (or she) must be right on the core issues, and have demonstrated character and good judgment.

Herman Cain was the train I was on, until the questions and accusations piled up. Is he guilty? I don’t know - his actions have not been those of a man with nothing to hide. I just don’t understand why someone would run for the highest office in the nation with the kind of baggage he is accused of having. Further - While the press is “free”, it (and his accusers) have no right, constitutionally or otherwise, to make false accusations, and Cain has a very real case or two if he is truly innocent of the charges. WE remember the accusations against GW Bush - and he pushed through them with the truth.

Wow, the DNC really tapped into the motherlode of political dirt on Newt here. NOT.

I don’t care who you, that’s funny!

I have to say, though, that I’m glad to see the other candidates riding herd on Newt on a some things. It will make him a better candidate/nominee and it won’t hurt him in the general. And Newt is the last guy who should ever get the idea that he’s being annointed, rather than having to earn it.

The DNC just took Newt to the next level and that’s hilarious!

YEP! And the really cool thing is that this ad campaign is helping to shore up one of the few remaining weak spots for Newt in the conservative electorate.

(The Washington elites started that process last week, and now the DNC is helping. If McCain would just endorse Mitt, the deal would be done. )
