Radio host Michael Savage offers Gingrich $1 million to drop out of GOP race
The Hill ^ | 12/12/2011 | Jonathan Easley

Conservative radio host Michael Savage is offering Republican presidential frontrunner Newt Gingrich $1 million if he drops out of the GOP race within the next 72 hours, according to a message on his website.

“Newt Gingrich is unelectable. Mitt Romney is the only candidate with a chance of defeating Barack Obama, and there is nothing more important than that for the future health, safety, and security of the United States of America,” the statement read. “Therefore I am offering Newt Gingrich one million dollars to drop out of the presidential race for the sake of the nation.”

Savage conceded that Romney is “not as strong a conservative as many would like him to be,” but listed the reasons why he thinks Gingrich is a threat to Republicans.

Some have argued that Gingrich’s prowess as a debater would pit him well against President Obama during the election, but Savage said that regardless of how well he does, he will “come off badly compared to Obama and look like nothing more than what he is: a fat, old, white man.”

“If Newt Gingrich really loves this country as much as he says he does, if he really wants what is best for America, he will set his ego aside, call me, and accept my offer,” the statement said. “His continued candidacy spells nothing but ruin for conservatives, Republicans and all true American patriots. One million dollars in exchange for preserving the nation, Newt. I say take the money and don’t run.”

Wiener is such a limp sausage.
Must be he needs a ratings boost.
Is he still gay (or did he edit his book like Mitt did)?

I’ve always thought Savage is an asshole, but he’s more anti-American than even Obama if he thinks this is how our political system is supposed to work.

Newt is too Conservative for Michael Savage. He’d much prefer Jerry Brown as President (or Ron Paul).

Savage conceded that Romney is “not as strong a conservative as many would like him to be,” but

I said the same thing about supporting George W. Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Elect the best we can get. Its true you can't elect a pure, untested candidate just because they say the right things. But my days of supporting big-spending Republicans are over. Unless I am convinced they will cut spending -- and I doubt Romney will -- I will not vote for them.

You’ve made this jackass Savage (not his real name) filthy rich by listening to his vomit and buying the trash advertised therein.

Gingrich should counter offer Savage a million dollars to retire and get off the radio!

Actually I quite like Savage.....I listen to his show, but his veiled hold your nose support for Romney is absurd.

For someone who promoted himself as a steward of history he is absolutely wrong if he thinks Americans will only vote for chisel jawed smooth talkers......the only redeeming quality he seems able to find in Romney.....

I am not even pro Newt, he is certainly the best of a bad bunch right now however.

Savage is right and wrong. He is right about Gingrich...but wrong about Romney.

We are screwed with either one of these two as the nominee. I don't like Romney...he's a democrat...and I don't like Gingrich...he's a RINO in sheep's clothing. His positions have shifted back to the right...strangely enough...like Romney.

I will vote for Gingrich...but the MSM will tear him apart...and the average voter out there who doesn't know his butt from a hole in the ground will take their cues from the MSM and the $1 Billion in negative adds that will run. Neither one can win.

Easy to offer a million when you know Gingrich won’t take it. Offer me the million, big man.

Savage is transparent. Did any of you give him money when he was fighting censorship of his show or something, and used his listeners’ money to pay every penny of the legal expense?
