Holder to push against voter-ID laws

The Obama administration on Tuesday will wade into the increasingly divisive national debate over new voting laws in several states that could depress turnout among minorities and others who helped elect the president in 2008. …

With the presidential campaign heating up,Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. will deliver a speech Tuesday expressing concerns about the voter-identification laws, along with a Texas redistricting plan before the Supreme Court that fails to take into account the state’s burgeoning Hispanic population, he said in an interview Monday.

Holder will speak at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Libary and Museum in Austin, Tex., which honors the president who shepherded the 1965 Voting Rights Act into law. …

When it comes to voting fraud, some conservatives have long argued that it is a serious problem, although others say the number of such cases is relatively low. Studies of the issue have reached different conclusions on the extent of the problem.

“You constantly hear about voter fraud . . . but you don’t see huge amounts of vote fraud out there,’’ Holder said.

Here in Michigan they have to ask for a photo ID but you don’t have to show it. However failure to show it makes your ballot a provisional ballot.

$13 STATE ID

When my state of South Carolina was working to get a Voter ID law passed, the RATS complained that low income voters would be disenfranchised as they had no money to pay for the ID. So the legislature (Republican majority) changed the law to make the taxpayers pay for the IDs so the IDs could be "free." Believe it or not, then the RATS complained that the low income voters were still disenfranchised as they had no transportation to the DMV to get their "free" ID. Unbelievable!

And if you recall many counties provided transportation, here in York County, I think there were less then 10 requests for transportation

Holder’s “Justice” Department is at the heart of organized voter fraud in the U.S., as outlined by whistleblower J. Christian Adams.

Adams is an election lawyer who served in the Voting Rights Section at the U.S. Department of Justice. His bestselling book is Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department (Regnery). His website is www.electionlawcenter.com.

When I go to my bank and encounter a new teller who doesn't know me, does anyone with two brain neurons to rub together think that I would resist identifying myself?

The funny thing is, I work in banking, and some people, especially older ones, get in a major huff when a new teller asks them for ID. "I've been banking here since 19XX! Why should I be asked this?"

When I go to the bank to withdraw money from my account, I appreciate being asked for ID. What I can’t figure out is, when I deposit money into my account, they ask for ID also. As far as I’m concerned, if someone who is not me wants to put money into my account, then by all means....

For deposits it might be related to the possibility of laundering illicitly gained funds in the account of someone else.

Just a thought - my employer doesn’t normally ask for ID for deposits unless something is fishy.

If you’re really at such a stage in life that you can’t afford, or can’t be bothered to get, a F***ING $13 STATE ID

In CA, under certain circumstances, you can get a free ID. Voter ID laws will only disenfranchise people who are voting illegally, and that is the big scare that has been thrown into the dimwit tribe. I call for elimination of the mail in ballot unless it has a finger print on the envelope. All votes should be finger printed when they register and required to place their prints on the envelope when mailing the absentee ballot back in.

I think that is for their own protection, not for ours. Before ID became standard for depositing funds, my brothers paycheck was routinely placed into another person's account. They eventually fired the teller who did this but it took some doing to get her replaced.

If I want to vote, I have to prove it is me and that I am a citizen. Anything less should not be tolerated.

The legal voting age is 18. If a teenager walked into the polling station, and got in line to vote, is the poll attendant allowed to ask for identification to prove that the teenager is 18 or older? How can a poll watcher enforce the age requirement without an ID? The answer is that they can't and that an ID is required. Well, if ID's are required for young citizens of the USA, then we must not discriminate against them. Therefore, regardless of age all people seeking to vote should be required to have a valid ID.

"...some people, especially older ones, get in a major huff when a new teller asks them for ID."

Well, I'm seventy-five and thank God almighty that I still have two or three of those brain cells that are active. If a new teller failed to ID me, I'd ask a couple of questions and perhaps "rat" him/her out to the manager. I wouldn't do it in a mean way, you understand. Just a precautionary measure. After all, it's potentially my bank account that's in jeopardy, not to even mention hundreds of others. And, as for voter ID, it's our republic that's in jeopardy.

I did not know of the transportation offers. But that just further proves that the RATS were blowing smoke.
