Herman Cain says he'd like to be secretary of Defense
LA Times ^ | Thursday December 15, 2011

Herman Cain is no longer running for president. He doesn't think he's likely to be picked as the eventual nominee's running mate, either. But he does have a Cabinet post in mind should the GOP win the White House next fall: secretary of Defense.

[....]

Cain shared the idea with ABC's Barbara Walters during her annual special on the "10 Most Fascinating People." And the veteran journalist was just a bit surprised.

Cain said he thought he'd be a good pick because he wants to "influence rebuilding our military the way it should be."

Walters, still stunned, reminded Cain of his struggles during the campaign with topics like Libya. And there is always Uzbeki-beki-beki-stan-stan.

"I have been doing my homework ever since that difficulty," Cain said.

Oh, I just have to hear of the accomplishments YOU have compared to Cain.

Start anywhere in your life and go forward. (He has more, and got going at them, way before you? But go ahead and list them

Cain was railroaded, Where are the girls? Where is the press ? Where is your interrest in the truth to what might have been a very good President?

These are Newt tards attacking, they are afraid that Cain is going to endorse a real conservative and not some friggin tool like Newt...

Newt is not serious, his ground ops are in the crapper, barely doing anything in FL and SC.

Tonight he will be running for a Hillary/Gingrich 2012 ticket. He can’t wait to take a left turn, tonight is the night.

Don’t try to convince me. Convince Cain. If you convince him, he’s back in for the fight. If you convince me you get...bupkis.

What a truly bizarre level of hubris.

Herman Cain is a generally good man with good ideas.

However, he is no more qualified to be SecDef that Panetta.

And that means HE'S NOT QUALIFIED. Not even close.

Does he even know the difference between a brigade and a battalion? A cruiser and destroyer? Logistics? Procurement? Development?

Oh man, that is so sad.

You are still suffering from your horrible loss.

I understand and feel your pain. I can hear your crying and see your pain in your words. I can see your reaching out for help, help from anyone who will listen. Crying is okay in such times... it helps one free themselves and find their center.

Any moment now you will lash out again, perhaps even at me, your new found friend. It’s a natural reaction to such a traumatic event. You see, some folks just can’t take the mental stress of such a personal train wreck.

Please, drink lots of fluids, get plenty of sleep, stay on your medications, stay away from sharp objects, don’t drive, and stay off of bridges and high buildings.

If we can just get you through the next few weeks, you’ll find that there is life after such miserable failures.

With profound sincerity.......

Thank you for pointing that out.

Cain was the recipient of a whisper campaign that produced nothing of substance.

He quit because a nation raised on soap operas believes women of questionable character and motives before they believe a man with a proven track record of actually achieving the American dream.

What did he admit to, exactly?

Not one single thing but he has been tried and convicted by some. Herman Cain says he is a Christian, I have no reason to doubt him and accepting him as a brother in Christ, I will believe him until he's proven guilty or he admits to it.

“Maybe in some other position but defense is about the last place I’d want him.”

Agreed. I’m surprised he’s so self-blind. This is almost like a joke story.

He is about as qualified for that job as I would be. As qualified as Hilary was for Sec of State; which she was not qualified to get.

Wow. The vitriol being spewed on this page about Cain is an embarrassment. Here we have a man who for two decades has been a magnificant champion of conservative ideas. A citizen who spent most of 2011 traveling the primary states running on a conservatie platform. Yet here we see nothing but nastiness. Embarrassing.

He was always looking for a job.

This is kind of insane, actually. How would he be the least bit qualified to run the US military and would it not be embarassing for a normal person to stand up and say “I want to run the US military” with no experience? He’s a tad mental.
