Barney Frank: Obama Would Easily Defeat Gingrich

Retiring Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., sees President Barack Obama easily winning another term in office if matched up against former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in the 2012 election, The Hill reports.

Frank says Obama would have no problem winning reelection but would not say if the president would surpass his 2008 victory totals.

Gingrich capturing the GOP presidential nomination, "would be the best thing to happen to the Democrats since Barry Goldwater," Frank recently said.

Frank told The Hill Gingrich could carry most of the southern states but predicted Obama's electoral count would be "in the 300s" against the Republican from Georgia.

In 2008, Obama racked up 365 electoral votes and opponent, Sen. John McCain had 173. In 1964, President Lyndon Johnson won 486 electoral votes and Goldwater had just 52

The Hill points out earlier this fall, Frank said former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney would be more of a challenge for Obama next November, with Frank seeing Texas Governor Rick Perry as a weaker candidate.

Frank and Gingrich are not exactly close friends. The former House Speaker had previously said Frank should be put behind bars for the role he played in the financial crisis in 2008.

I think it might be close with just Gingrich vs zero. But IF he picks a good VP, Gingrich will blow idiot zero out of the water.

I wouldn’t use “blow” in a sentence with Barney’s Frank.

Barney Frank is afraid of the truth. Here’s a video of Speaker Gingrich in 2008 explaining some of the mess (caused by Barney and other nincompoops (notice WHO is standing right next to him....as he speaks the truth - someone who recently slammed him):

We saw it happen in 2008 with John McCain.

It was the financial crisis and bitterness over the Iraq War and dissatisfaction with McCain that put Obama in office. Obama wouldn’t have won in 2008 if he hadn’t won over 60 percent of the Millennial vote and 52 percent of Independents.

Millennials turned against McCain because of Iraq. There are now a lot more Millennial voters than in 2008. Some Millennials are now older and are more likely to vote.

If the Republicans put Newt out there, Obama is going to say “I ended the Iraq War” and “killed Bin Laden,” but Newt wants to start another war with Iran, which Millennials will have to fight and pay for.

Since 2008, Millennials have swung 15 points against Obama because of the terrible economy. Right now, the economy is the issue, but if the 2012 election becomes a campaign over Newt supporting more foreign wars, that could easily change.
