Personally, I make it a habit to assess my cod. But that’ just me.

Back in the 1970s I use to really like the cheap batter fried fish at places like Long John Silvers etc.

I then went a long time without eating at any of them then maybe a year ago I was waiting to meet my Daughter’s family at a resort and on a whim stopped at one.

Maybe it was just a bad individual place but the fish sure seemed not as good. I recently saw an ad on TV for them and they mentioned the fish was pollock. That probably was what the difference was.

Pollock is OK, but cod is better.

In the meantime now the greenies have been stricken by the fear of (insufficient) cod. Since cod is pretty good, I wonder why not cod farming if anyone fears a cod shortage?

I recently bought some fake crab meat which was not really all that cheap, especially since it was made from pollock.

It was pretty good tho.

Red Snapper is under a complete closure in the southeast despite being at historically high levels of abundence. There was even testimony to a Congressional Hearing in July that the govt. scientist deliberatly reduced the biomass in the computer. They refuse to reopen it. Every other species is under severe unwarrented restrictions and top marine scientists are stating that our marine resources are in extremly good shape. We are importing 84% of the seafood consumed in the U.S. creating a re-distribution of wealth with the seafood trade deficit almost $11 billion.

On top of that, NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco (ex-EDF Vice Chair) has made implementing the Agenda 21 Catch Share system in all American fisheries a top priority. This has worked so well in the NE that most of the boats are tied to the dock and the Gov. of Mass. has declared an Economic Disaster and requested $21 million from the fedgov.

Undeterred by that she requested $54 million in the 2012 budget to continue expanding it.

More Mainers are getting welfare than those who pay taxes.

As Maine goes, so goes the nation!

Exactly. And this type of job killing BS by the Obama administration needs to be hammered by Republicans on a daily basis. But it's not because they are too busy reacting to Democrat propaganda than actually getting their own message out.

Most of the Cod you eat actually comes from the Bering Sea. It’s pacific cousin isn’t as tasty in my opinion. A good Georges Bank alternative is Haddock. It’s a mid water column alternative to the bottom dweller Cod. It’s delicious!
