Mourners weep at escalator used by Kim Jong-il

20/12 12:23 CET

North Korean state media has released a still photograph of what is believed to have been Kim Jong-il’s last public appearance before he died.

He is seen on a supermarket escalator, with his son and future successor Kim Jong-un among those behind him.

Today the escalator they travelled down has been turned into a shrine.

“I can’t imagine how happy it would make us and our fellow citizens if he could ride on this escalator again,” said one woman, amid a group of mourners, weeping around the moving staircase. “I still feel that he is alive, with his bright smile. I can also hear his voice.”

It is uncertain when Kim Jong-il visited the supermarket in Pyongyang. But what does seem sure is that the escalator he rode on will now have a hallowed place in North Korean history.

This is not so much ridiculous than disturbing. Very disturbing. It poignantly show how sick the regime is, making people do things like this.

You guys read anything into this?

U.S. yet to recognize N. Korea’s young leader: foreign minister

SEOUL, Dec. 23 (Yonhap) — The United States has yet to recognize North Korea’s young leader following the death of Kim Jong-il, South Korea’s foreign minister said Friday, as the world is trying to read the tea leaves on whether Kim’s abrupt demise could spark an internal power struggle.

Obviously, some folks were eating while millions of others were starving. The lucky eaters miss Dear Leader.

Some nations don’t deserve to survive.

I read somewhere that, if you do not visibly express your sympathy, you are put on the starvation list. So these people are crying in order to eat.

Being hauled away and put in prison without a trial or quite possibly being killed or, a family member torchured if you do not worship the state as god is a real incentive for going along.
Repeating theme throughout the opressed world.

The North Korean people who worship a counterfeit god are dealing with the consequences of that worship with the sever bondage they live in. What is sad is they don’t know the true God and Truth !

Moving? No, no. They have to shut it down, rope it off, and if possible mark where the sacred footprints last lit.

So what is Kim’s voice saying, I wonder? My money is on “Ahhhh! It burns! It burns!

Jackass spent three hours going up and down the escalators.
“Wow! Look at this! Moving stairs! What’ll they think of next? Doors that automatically open when you get close to them?”

You want to know why nearly the entire nation is this way? Watch "The Inner Circle". Kim patterned his rule after Stalinist Russia and he learned his lessons very well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-qyOcseScg

"The Inner Circle" 1991 () Tom Hulce (Actor), Lolita Davidovich (Actor), Bob Hoskins (Actor), Andrey Konchalovskiy (Director)

This was the first Western financed film to be actually filmed in the Kremlin in Russia after Glastnost. It is the true story of Alexander Ganshin (Ivan Sanchin in the film), the NKVD (KGB) officer who was Stalin's private film projectionist from 1939 until the dictator's death in 1953.

An exceptional non-fiction film depicting an intimate inside look into the impact of Stalinist communism; the "workers paradise", on every area of an individual life as seen within "The Inner Circle".

Superb acting, subtley portraying the fear and terror of being alive in the time and society when it was dangerous to be not dead. (*These are the exact same conditions which have existed in North Korea since Kim took over. Is it any wonder the masses are acting this way... who knows who is WATCHING you and judging how "well" you are mourning "Dear Leader"?)

While this is not your typical "feel good" Hollywood fare, it provides a tremendous, accurate historical archive for what life was like in Stalinist Russia; the land where Stalin killed 23 million of his own people in order to establish and maintain power. (Just as the Kims have been doing for decades.)

I think the left in this country looks at North Korea with envy.
They can't wait to control the food supply, monopolize force, and drive Christians into labor or death camps.
We must be vigilant.

Looks like a bad british comedy skit.

Odd, the escalator with dead Kim had red rails and white treads...but now has green rails and blue treads. The lighting fixtures are a different style, the column in the background has a different finish, in the lil Kim photo, he is on a solitary escalator - and you can see the side of it...but there are now two escalators side by side.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you couldn’t trust commie media about ANYTHING.

I think it's just Obama being Obama, once again leading from behind. And of course, there's the matter of his vacay - that takes precedence over something like foreign affairs.
