Obamaland: American Mules Must Eat Certified Weed-Free Hay

Mining has played an important role in the development of the western United States—providing jobs and revenues. It should be doing the same now. In Nevada’s mining towns, the unemployment rate is among the lowest in the country: 5-7%—according to Tim Crowley President of the Nevada Mining Association who says there are hundreds of mining jobs available in Nevada. Skills from the hard hit construction industry can be transferred to mining.

General Moly plans to hire 450 people by the end of the year. There are major copper operations in permitting. Companies are looking at mining rare earths and lithium—both of which are essential for cell phones, batteries, computers, and wind turbines and solar panels.

Imagine the jobs and new wealth that could be created if mining was encouraged. Senator Settelmeyer says, “It is hard enough for companies to get through the regulatory process and get a permit. On top of that there is frivolous environmental litigation that lengthens the process—cutting off vital resources and delaying jobs.”

"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you." Thanks, but no thanks. You've done enough already.

My sister has two mules she uses to eat the weeds in her pasture.

This is all a concerted effort to bankrupt the United States of America ... it’s all planned and so help me, Congress is in on the ‘fix’ ... except maybe the ten or so TEA party Senators and couple dozen TEA party Representatives.

But so help me, I can’t prove a thing, but the Gutless Old Pharts seem to be doing everything they can to undermine 2012 just as they and McCain did to undermine 2008.

I commend Andrew Brietbart for doing his part to expose the guilty of all stripes, party affiliation, and destructive tactics.

Conservatives are just too dern NICE and it’s going to be the destruction of the USofA ... and that’s exactly what the Gramsci-Alinskyites expect.

America has tied itself in a Gordian knot of regulation. There is only one way out.

Mules have been eating weeds for centuries! Must not be too bad because we still have mules.

The Donkeys on that side of the aisle shouldn’t talk about “too much weed”.

Thanks ibytoohi, and Merry Christmas!

From the article:

“In Montana’s Finley Basin there are known tungsten deposits. An Australian company wanted to bring revenue and jobs to the state by developing the resource. While the property was successfully drilled and recognized by Union Carbide in the seventies, it is now about 200 yards inside a roadless study area. The Forest Service was willing to offer a conditional drilling permit. Among the conditions were these requirements:

The drill sites must be cleared using hand tools,
The drilling equipment and fuel must be transported to the site by a team of pack mules,
The mules must be fed certified weed-free hay, and
Drill site and trail reclamation must be done using hand tools.

The company gave up.

How can America remain competitive in a global marketplace when we are required to use pick axes and mules? How does this help America’s heavy equipment manufacturers like Caterpillar?

No wonder we are in trouble.

We need these resources. They are salable both in the US and in a global market. The question is will we produce our assets—creating revenues, jobs, and new wealth? Or, will we allow countries, such as China, to have a monopoly and control the price?”

Leftist lunacy.

This is *almost* unbelievable.

America is hellbent on suicide.

Just by way of encouraging *informed opinion*, “certified weed free hay” has nothing to do with the health or nutrition of the animal eating it.

It’s about preventing invasive weeds in natural and pristine areas.

Horses and mules do not digest all the seeds they eat, they pass right on through the horse quite unharmed, and now, fertilized.

Many natural and pristine areas require that horses (and mules) eat weed-free hay prior to and while riding in those areas, to prevent the spread of noxious weeds.

Weed free feed is readily available and horsemen who frequent backcountry and remote areas are familiar with it.

This stuff, including the EPA lunacy, is being driven by squirrels that have college degrees, but failed critical thinking and have never needed to use common sense. With the nobama POTUS, these wildeyed wackos see no one is there to slow them down, so Balls to the Wall.

Perhaps they should also of required the miners to wear old fashioned costumes in addition to using mules. Then the liberals out East could come and have their pictures taken with both the miners and the mules... Of course the mules would have to be unionized.

YEP!

It’s been my experience that the forestry officials, who actually work outside in their areas, have a good bit of common sense and expertise...but are hamstrung by many ridiculous regulations.

No idea about this place or it’s pristine quality, just correcting the mistaken thinking that it was about improving the diet of working mules. It’s not. Nor is it a new requirement for horsemen in many of these areas.

Understanding the issue, is better than ‘not’. :~)
