Ecuador sends 10,000 troops to Colombia border

Ecuador has deployed some 10,000 security forces to its border with Colombia to deal with a "most grave" security problem, President Rafael Correa said Saturday.

Correa said the troops and police forces were deployed to bolster security amid concerns about "organized crime, drug trafficking (and) irregular groups," including paramilitary groups and Marxist guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia known as FARC.

In other news President Obama sends 15 unarmed National Guard troups to the Arizona border with Mexico in a operation code-named FARCE (Federal Army Responce to Conceal Entanglements).

And all this time I didn't think he had it in him to actually push that "red button" as POTUS! /s

So, this after the recent visit by Colombia’s President Santos. I gather this means that Ecuador will cooperate and coordinate with the Colombians against FARC and the gang.

Previously, they seemed to think they could afford to ignore FARC setting up shop on their side of the river. Perhaps Santos was able to present Correa with convincing evidence of FARCs skullduggery in Ecuador.

Imagine if the news report was that the President of Equador had sent thousands of firearms to the FARC and drug/insurgent groups in Columbia....
