Romney's electability ( John Ziegler )
American Thinker ^ | 12/282011 | John Ziegler

(excerpt...see article for more!)

There are plenty of blatantly incorrect opinions about the Republican presidential primary floating around and some of them are perched in some rather prominent places...

... But none that I have seen has been more obviously and dangerously flawed than John Hawkins' column entitled "7 Reasons Why Mitt Romney's Electability is a Myth," which was recently posted at Townhall.

...And since Mr. Hawkins gave seven reasons why Romney's electability is a myth, in the spirit of conservative cooperation I offer the seven most underrated reasons that Romney is indeed the most electable Republican presidential candidate....

“A majority of my friends support Romney and I live in a very conservative little town where the Reagan Ranch is located. “

When you mention Romney and Reagan together, remember that Romney was so anti-Reagan that he left the Republican party because Reagan became President. Romney became a Democrat supporter, fund raiser, and was fighting the conservative movement of Reagan and the Gingrich Congress.

So is it his DOG ABUSE or his ROMNEYCARE
which draws you up tight and close to RINO Romney?

Or his penchant for covering up corruption?

Or his taxes disguised as FEES.

Or all of the above?

I like point 5 for why Romney is electable!
5. Women like him and not just because of his hair and voice.

(yes, he is very handsome. Also married for many years to the same woman.)

I REALLY hope you've forgotten your /sarc tag.

Maybe Dimocrat women fall for "dreamy" candidates, but this woman (and the majority of right-thinking GOP women) look for substance.

Yeesh.

Yikes. Well, I suggest you read the Romney Truth File available to you in BIG RED LETTERS on this very forum.

Get educated. Romney is NOT a conservative.

Now I understand not liking Newt. He is a lying scumbag. I’m currently fighting for Santorum, also a fantastic family man with a great conservative track record and credentials. So he doesn’t have numbers? Newt didn’t have numbers just a few months ago. It’s still anybody’s game. Fight for someone GOOD!

You can't just say anything you want. You have to provide evidence.

Where's the evidence that Romney "left the Republican Party because Reagan became President"? Or that he was a fundraiser for the Democrats?

Romney was an independent in the 1980s. A lot of young people in Massachusetts are, and so are a lot of conservatives (so that they can vote in either primary), but Mitt Romney doesn't seem to have been that interested in politics in those days.

By 1994, Romney was a Republican running against Ted Kennedy for the Senate. 1994, as you may remember was when the Republicans won Congress back and made Gingrich speaker, so it's pretty obvious that he wasn't fighting against the "Gingrich Congress."

Romney did say in the 1994 campaign against Kennedy “I was an independent during that time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan-Bush.” Notice that he didn't say he voted against Reagan and Bush, just that he hadn't been a registered Republican. He didn't say he left the Republicans because of Reagan or that he was fighting against "the conservative movement of Reagan." He was too busy making money to bother with politics much.

Sorry, I thought there was a Romney Truth File, but there is a video with Romney demonstrating how much of a big fat liberal he really is.

JimRob, maybe there should be a link to a canonical takedown article for Romney?

My mother was a Mitt Romney supporter prior to her death. My daughter supports Mitt Romney. I think you might just need to get out more if you don't know any other ladies who like Mitt. There are lots of us.

None of my women friends will support Mitt unless he's up against Obama. My family of six women all think he's a creeper!

Which one’s do we disagree with?
Is the point on Nevada and Michigan well taken?
I think #6 is ridiculous even if some of the others may be valid.

1.The Mormon vote will help him in Nevada, which is a key state in Obama’s “272” Electoral College strategy.

2.He has by far the best chance of winning New Hampshire, which would turn the “272” scenario into a tie (assuming a loss in Nevada) and a probable victory.

3.His family roots in Michigan give him by far the best opportunity to take this state which would kill almost any path for Obama to get to 270 Electoral College votes.

4.He is actually a great general election debater because he is smart, quick and not likely to say anything stupid that the media can use to destroy him.

5.Women like him and not just because of his hair and voice.

6.The “flip flop” charge, while true, will not be very effective against him because it will require liberals to attack him for really being a...liberal.

7.Americans do not tend to hold a person’s wealth against them when it comes to running for high office, especially when they think that person might help them get a job.

Yeah, Mitt was off in France, so pappa George was instrumental in “coaxing” the 16 year old non-Mormon Ann to convert and stick around until Mittens returned. Truer love never seen, and all it took was the help of the president of American Motors.

[Nobody wants to talk about this, but it is huge, and will doom Romney in both the primary and the general.]

Yup. Wait till peepstones, magic underwear, the White Horse prophecy, secret handshakes, spirit children and spirit wives, Romney’s family polygamy, Kolob, becoming a god, getting a planet, Indians are Jews AND MUCH MORE hit the campaign. Other Repubs have been too nice.

Do you want to see the photo of Mitt Romney doing fund raising for Planned Parenthood also?

We have been providing this evidence for years, Romney, son of Republican Presidential candidate George Romney and Republican Senatorial candidate Lenore Romney, was a Republican who switched to Independent during Reagan’s Presidency, and then came out against conservatives such as Jesse Helms and Reagan, and against the Contract with America.

Romney had been with his father when they stormed off the 1964 convention floor in protest against conservatism and Goldwater’s nomination.

“between July 1989 and October 1993, Romney exclusively financed these three Democrats.”

“Romney Threw Fundraiser For Dem Candidate In 1992”
“The fundraiser is significant because it shows that Romney actively sought to help a Democrat take an open Senate seat from the GOP.”

Sorry honey, you are stretching to say Santa Barbara is conservative.

You have distorted what I wrote; I never claimed Santa Barbara is conservative. I stand by my claim that Santa Ynez is a very conservative little town and I am surrounded by fellow Romney supporters here. It is the tendency of anti-Romney zealots to mischaractarize facts making your so called "truth files" so easy to shoot full of holes. And by attempting to diminish my opinion by starting out with "Sorry honey" you only reveal that you are a classless person, and certainly not a "THINKING" person. It is the tone of the Romney haters that has made Mitt Romney such an attractive candidate to reasonable people.
