"What you'll never see is the Republican party leadership pledging to be loyal to the voters! "

I'll take their oath, and give it as much concern as they did their oath to protect and defend the Constitution. These scumbags deserve another term of obama.

How about this for a crazy idea? You can’t vote in the primary unless you make out a check for $100 to the Va. Republican Party at the polling place.

How about an oath by the candidates to read the party platform and make a good faith effort to implement it. All of it.

Ron Paul won’t say that he will support the nominee, why should I? I’ll decide on March 6th what I will do, depending on the state of the race.

Kooks everywhere. Loyalty oaths? Talk about control freaks. Are they afraid Ron Paul will be the nominee? ROFLOL I guess they should have allowed more candidates on the ballot. As it is, Virginia is gonna go for Paul. I know I shouldn’t laugh, but I can’t help it.

So, exactly how do they intend to enforce this? Is this even Constitutionally viable?

Or, do we have children pretending they are adults?

What if the RNC Candidate wins nomination, then says “On second thought, I really think Obama-care didn’t go far enough”. Now I ‘ethically’ cannot vote a Libertarian ticket.

The only thing worse than one set of stupid laws, are half-baked laws that are created to cover up the original stupid laws.

I have never registered with any party and have been shut out of the primaries as a result. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Both parties want the independent voters, they say, but shutting them out of the primaries is not the way to attract them.

This actually signifies the death knell of the Virginia GOP.

It won’t be immediate but the mid term and long term consequences will result in the formation of competing parallel institutions in the state, be it of the Gingrich bent or the Paul bent, or some Perot-type bent.

The RPV just shot itself in the face, and the loyalty oath form is the postcard invitation to the funeral.

Thanks.

Apparently when VA floated this idea in the 2008 primaries, they later dropped it: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/30/AR2007113002348.html

Virginians don’t need unenforceable loyalty oaths; they need choices and candidates they can believe in.

Why should VA have those things when the rest of the Country doesn't?

That means anyone who wants to vote must sign a form at the polling place pledging to support the eventual Republican nominee for president.

Define "support". Give them money? Be sure to show up at the polls on election day? Kiss their butt? Commit hara-kiri if they lose? Send them flowers on their birthday? Wash their magic underwear?

How do they know that you voted for the republican when the actual election rolls around?

Loyalty oath? What feel-good nonsense. It's not the people with principles that you have to worry about. Close the primary to people who actually make a commitment to join the party. Just because someone can't vote in a primary doesn't mean they won't vote for your guy in the general. Make the primary vote mean something instead of treating it like the trash it's become. The open primaries don't encourage principled participation, just homogenization.

We want your name and address for our mailing lists.

If you want to vote in the primaries you gotta' do that. It's only fair.

On the other hand in Virginia we don't have that yet ~ but we will!
