Obama’s approval rating plummets
By Amie Parnes - 12/29/11 05:34 PM ET

President Obama enjoyed a surge in popularity this week — but the bounce proved to be remarkably short-lived.

A Gallup tracking poll released Thursday showed that Obama is once again underwater, plummeting to 41 percent approval and 50 percent disapproval, a sharp drop from earlier in the week.

A survey released Monday showed the president had a sudden uptick in the opinion poll, with 47 percent of respondents approving of the way he was handling his job and 45 percent disapproving. It was the first time since July that more people viewed him favorably than unfavorably.

The bounce in popularity came on the heels of the payroll-tax cut debate, when Senate Democrats and Obama stood firm to force House Republicans into accepting a two-month deal.

After emerging as the winner in that debate, the president headed to Hawaii on Friday for a Christmas vacation with his family.

Obama, who has spent much of his down time on the golf course and out with his family, has not appeared at a public event since leaving Washington.

Any season poll taker will tell you not to take a poll during Xmas because people are generally in a good mood and not reflect reality. Best poll results and consumer confidence data should be taken in Jan 2012 to truly gauge the economy and politics. Obama drop is not surprising. Best data is by July to see how the US economy is faring.

but the bounce proved to be remarkably short-lived.

But never faulty polling or faulty interpretation.

Meanwhile the libs were making fun of the 10k bet from Romney, thereby proving he's out of touch.

This vacation was 2/3 his total pre-election net worth. All spent in 17 days. Just disgusting.

But most news outlets are prematurely reporting an economic recovery to tilt the election for their guy.

The 19th hole did him in.

They’re peeking this news too early. Everyone know the economy sucks. Anything the MSM reports is crap.

A Gallup tracking poll released Thursday showed that Obama is once again underwater, plummeting to 41 percent approval and 50 percent disapproval, a sharp drop from earlier in the week...looks like the people, including maybe a lot of supposed intellectuals like Charles Krauthammer, finally figured out that securing a two month extension of the cut in the payroll tax rather than a year's extension as the House 'pubs wanted, wasn't such a "victory" after all......

Heh, I'm guessing they still did that...Democrats have opened their goodies from Christmas and aren't happy with the lumps of coal (despite it's value as a commodity and fossil fuel.)

...plummeting to 41 percent approval and 50 percent disapproval...

So is the other 9% undecided? How can anyone possibly be undecided about zero at this point? I suspect the missing 9% also disapproves but, for whatever reason, does not want to admit it.

Yeah, because he SUCKS.

He must’ve thought that payroll tax crap was going to help him coast into a great re-election year. Listening to Louie Gohmer on the Rush show today, I don’t think that is going to be the case.

Hussein ought to be defeated in 2012. Let’s make it happen, folks, even if we don’t have the best candidate our minds can conjure.
