Gingrich sees Sarah Palin as vice president, Cabinet secretary
The Hill ^ | December 30,2011 | Justin Sink

Newt Gingrich said that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be among the candidates that he would consider when considering a potential running mate, adding that the former GOP vice presidential nominee would be an ideal candidate for secretary of Energy.

Gingrich, speaking Wednesday during a conference call with conservative voters hosted by Ralph Reed's Faith and Freedom Coalition, was asked by one of the attendees whether he would consider Palin as a running mate.

"She is certainly one of the people you would look at. I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, she’s somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities," Gingrich said, according to Right Wing Watch.

He went on to suggest that Palin might be ideal for a position in his Cabinet.

"There are also some very important Cabinet positions that she could fill very, very well," Gingrich said. "I can’t imagine anybody who would do a better job of driving us to an energy solution than Gov. Palin, for example. Tell her that she would certainly be on the list of one of the people we would consider."

Palin had toyed for months with running for the presidency before ultimately announcing late this summer to stay out of the GOP race.

It sounded reasonable to me. I don’t think Palin wants to run for anything, but I don’t see any reason Gingrich should have said he wouldn’t consider her (which would have been the other response he could have given).

Why is he being criticized for making an honest statement? He’d consider her and probably several other people, and they, for their part, would also have to consider whether they wanted to run with him. That sounds reasonable to me.

According to the Newtbots, If Newt babels on about having Sarah Palin as his VP, it's good, and if Sarah Palin has nothing but praises for Rick Santorum, it's bad...

At least Rick Santorum can put his money where his mouth is and can actually say that Sarah Palin supports him, and praises him.... but, don't look now, we will get all the Newtbots in a tizzy and say that Sarah Palin is working to get Romney the nomination.

At least Rick Santorum can back it up with proof... Newt just babels on about it..

Sarah Palin praises Rick Santorum

Rick Santorum Touts Praise From Sarah Palin

Andria Mitchelle sticks up for poor Newt, while Sarah Palin praises Rick Santorum... you do the math...

Newt was merely responding to a question asked of him in an honest manor. I like how he handled the question.

You got that one wrong. What Newt should have said is that he can't answer the question because if he answers yes freepers like Krankor will criticize him for transparently pandering to Palin supporters and if he answers no freepers like Krankor will criticize him for insulting Palin supporters.

Only President or Chief of staff would do. Either way she controls the agenda.

"Anyone who prefers Willard over Newt is a liberal aka Massachusetts Moderate or just plain ignorant."

I would have done anything for Sarah Palin.

I even drove 2700 miles round trip to witness her announcement speech in Indianola, Iowa.

Well we know how that turned out. She quit again in the dark of night on the Mark Levin Show. I was very disappointed.

And then I got hooked by 999. I donated to a buffoon, but little did I know, cause I was a Anyboby but Romney guy. Yeah, a real tough guy....LOL

And then I went all in for Newt. I met Newt in Connecticut a year and a half ago. I was very impressed.

I sent Newt's Campaign in Iowa a plan for victory. They did opposite.

Newt's disintegration this week has been more precipitous as was Edmund Muskie's.

Who would ever imagine Newt the crybaby, pandering wimp?

I'm so glad he's unraveling now before he gets more of a chance to fool the voters.

What you saw sitting on that loveseat (not a couch) with Nancy Pelosi was exactly what you saw!!

He would be as big a disaster as Obama....well almost.

So who an I left with?

As usual.........the lesser of two evils. If it comes to that I will vote Mitt and pray for his success.

You never know....maybe he will surprise us.

I am not moderate nor ignorant. Just google me.

And I don't get kickbacks from Chris Dodd now that he has the best job in his life.

Bring in Sarah, bring in my vote. I believe Sarah is honest, and only one honest politican would greatly improve the Congress crap ratio.

Sarah, VP?

No way. Been there - done that!

She'll either be top of the ticket or something entirely diffferent.

“Newt haters are jack offs... you know what a jack off is don’t you?”

Ooh, ooh! I know, I do! I do! Call on me, call on me!

Newt sent a couple of his campaign workers, Jack and Jill, up a hill to fetch a pail of water, but they were playing `grab-ass’ and Jack fell down and suffered a severe hematoma, and Jill came tumbling after.

So he had to decide whether to lay Jill or Jack off.

Right? Am I right? Well, huh? Am I? Hmmm? I’m close?

it shows conclusively that Gingrich has ALWAYS admired Palin.

As recently as January of this year, Newt said:

"I think that she's got to slow down and be more careful and think through what she's saying and how's she's saying it. There's no question that she's become more controversial."

Furthermore, in 2008: Gingrich says Palin will not be the future GOP leader.

So paraphrasing your comment, all this nonsense about how Newt has ALWAYS admired Palin is just a desperate plea by those who want to believe him.

As a leaning-Romney supporter, this would make things very interesting for me (Palin as VP candidate on the Newt 2012 ticket). Prior to Newt's illegal immigration flub during the debates, I considered him one of my choices (Romney, Cain, Gingrich), since I considered him as the winner of pretty much every debate. I sent Newt a donation, etc..

But then came the immigration comment, and at that point he dropped off my list, and was replaced with Bachmann. I had previously also sent money to Romney, and it was looking like my choice would probably be him since Cain faded fast before the vicious personal attacks he suffered under.

Yes, it probably would be pandering due to his sinking in the polls, but right now ANY candidate among whom I considere the contenders (Mitt, Rick S., Bachmann) would win me over by selecting Palin (if she so decides - I doubt it) --- and now that would include Newt even though it probably has more to do with his (sudden) poor numbers in the contest.

Just as Palin on the McCain ticket really won me over, the same would be true in 2012 for me.

But again, just because Newt likes her and would want her on the ticket, doesn't mean she is interested. To be frank, as soon as I dropped Newt the first go around, his supporters in what I consider much more rude manner than any Paul supporters ever have - they attacked me because I was leaning Romney. My thoughts were, and are, that even Newt himself doesn't want those kind of supporters who only (really) turn off others with such attitude.

But if Newt is smart enough to win over Palin to his ticket, yup, I on board again! --- but not to break some bad news to Newt supporters, when I listen to her very carefully, I got a gut that even if she would consider a VP run again, she really isn't on any Injun attack party against Romney... that fact makes me think, she might consider running VP under Romney, don't be surprised.

As for Paul supporters, again I have always admired the guy but I just don't think he can beat Obama --- and that is very important to me.

Good luck Newt, Palin may be your last hope. Better kiss her nice! (I wish I COULD!) --- and watch out for Rick S.! He's on my radar now, too, I am giving him a good look as one of my choices.

I’d love to see Sarah Palin as Secretary of the Interior replacing Ken the Kowboy Salazar and undoing all the mischief he’s created.

Perhaps... but his answer is a good one...and for all the right reasons. I have ideas for a dream Cabinet..and she is at the top of any list. She’s going to be involved and play a role in turning this country around.

I wish her well.

And I wish all our candidates well; this has to be the hardest thing for a person to consider. A run for high office is way beyond what most of us could do.
