I have always liked Santorum and might even vote for him in our primary on March 6th

I agree with this guy. Newt is not perfect, but he’s feisty and scrappy, and I like that.

I also agree. I was listening to the radio the other day, and a caller mentioned that the problem wasn't the pols, it was the electorate. He said that you have about 35%-40% of the people who think that Socialism and big government are not only normal, but advisable. He said (and he's right) that we need a candidate and a President who can teach the public WHY capitalism and freedom are not only inextricably linked, but essential to this nation if we're to avoid a coming dark age.

Anyone opposed to Newt should remember that we're not electing a messiah, we're electing a politician. By definition, that means someone imperfect, someone with votes and stands that are, in retrospect, far less than ideal. But we need someone on our side who can not only articulate ideas in a cogent fashion, but do so aggressively and without any shame. It is time for conservatives to stop apologizing and start attacking the enemies of our Republic, to take it back because we are correct, because our ideas are time-tested and moral.

Remember also that the Perfect is the enemy of the Good. Good is better than the anti-American enemy of our Republic that currently occupies the WH, and since Perfect doesn't exist we'll end up stuck with the present occupant.

Until we have closed primaries here, probably not. It isn't the Republican voters who elected Lindsee in the primary, it was 'rat crossovers who like him just fine.

Ditto for McCain in '08.

If this were 1954, Mitt Romney might be the advisable choice for president.

In a dastardly act of evil republicanism, Eisenhower canceled the election that year and as a result, it wasn't held until 1956.

Yes but rick did not spend all his time slopping off of the tax payers in dc since he left office, and did not lobby for fanny and Freddie for 1.6 million.

“...the conservatives represented by Michelle Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum...”
Say What? Howd he fit Newt in there? or even Perry?

When I saw “prom queen” in the title I thought the article was about Lindsey Graham.

I have been voting Republican for over 30 years and educated in college as a political science and history major... I know what the Republican establishment is and it’s a fact they aren’t backing Newt Gingrich.. Gingrich is hated by the establishment

Gingrich is hated by the establishment

But he's part of it and definitely part of the Washington establishment. However, it's a moot point. After last night he's done like dinner.
