The spectre of 1932: How a loss of faith in politicians and democracy could make 2012 the most
Daily Mail on-line (UK) ^ | 31st December 2011 | Dominic Sandbrook

Posted on 01/02/2012 9:11:45 AM PST by Texas Fossil

The dawn of a new year is usually a time of hope and ambition, of dreams for the future and thoughts of a better life. But it is a long time since many of us looked forward to the new year with such anxiety, even dread.

Parallels 2012 and 1932. Much of what he say is valid, however his comments about FDR are way off base.

Yes, we are in a time with little precedent since the Great Depression. The outcome? We shall see.

My opinion is, as bad as things are in the U.S. the rest of the world is much much worse.

Remove Obozo and his Commie minions and we can work through this mess.

Accept the Globalists yoke and we are down for the count.

Those are the options that I see we face.

Here you are. The title is indeed a long 'un:

The spectre of 1932: How a loss of faith in politicians and democracy could make 2012 the most frightening year in living memory

If Obama were re-elected, we will surely see a depression, in fact it is almost guaranteed.

It will take more than a Republican win to prevent one.

It will take exceptional leadership. Something we have not projected for a long time.

Long as we keep talkimg in generalities about “loss of faith” in politicians, etc., the edge of the cliff gets closer.

The real problem is the left, it should never be taken seriously, and we (the West) have allowed a fringe philosophy to take equal status with common sense.

Things like “taking care” of people rather than having them work simply will lead to disaster.

Everyone I talk to about politics is utterly “disgusted” with corrupt politicians in both Parties; they want them “all” gone in November 2012 and plan to finish cleaning the DC sewer in 2014. State and local politicians aren’t fairing any better in everyone’s opinion. The anger is real and the rage is seething, IMO.

Yep. Communities were the source of support at one time.

Now that is dissolved.

It’s not so much a loss of faith in democracy as it is a loss of faith in the voters. The Democrats have a notion that everyone should vote, no matter how clueless they may be.

I have been saying stuff like the content of this article for some time. But I do have one major quibble.

The writer dismisses the seriousness of the GOP candidates--but he seems to forget that Winston Churchill was regarded as a crackpot in the 1930's. So he can bite me.

I just received an e-mail this morning that Congressman Mac Thornberry was not running for re-election. (my congressman) He is one of the “good guys”. If it is not caused by family issues, it is a very bad bell weather for where we are at.

I have interacted with his staff on several issues and he has always been on the right side. Not the kind we need to loose.

“clueless voters”?

Yes, there are many.

That is because the “clueless voters” are the most easily deceived.

Deception is necessary for all Commies/Socialists/Marxists/Progressives/Fascists/Muzzies to come into and stay in power.

Totalitarianism in all forms are a horror.

Liars all and children of the father of lies.

Leadership out of this mess will not come from the “Establishment”,

If it comes, it will come from outside DC.

It is TIME.
