Well, Huckabee was an unknown who took IA by a much larger margin in ‘08. So there’s certainly a historical precedent for this sort of thing.

I don’t see Santorum gaining much traction beyond social conservatives. Which makes him a loser, because most people care far more about the country’s fiscal situation than about pro-life issues. Santorum doesn’t have a strong record when it comes to sound fiscal policy.

I don't know, shop around. The point is that Santorum's a statist and profligate big spender.

“you blithering idiot.”

Do you truly expect anyone to read past that? If politicians did nothing but talk, this nation would never have existed, the civil war would have never been fought, the moon would have never been landed upon, the Soviet Union would have never been defeated.....etc.

I’m sorry that you had to come to the realization that there exists no true difference between the two socialists, and I am even more sorry that this caused you to lash out in an ugly manner.

Listening to Iowa local talk radio...WHO’s Mickelson... seems there’s more than anecdotal evidence that the ‘Rats some of the Demonrat’s version of operation chaos went to Willard... If it were not for same-day registrations, I believe Santorum might have won - maybe even handily.

Mickelson just had a caller on who claimed her son, an “occupier”... went to his local caucus AND GOT ON THE PLATFORM COMMITTEE!!! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot... Oscar Mike Foxtrot Golf... That is whacked.

At least when I was watching he was just saying based on where the votes at the last minute were coming from, it seemed most likely that Romney would edge it.

I don’t think it was stolen.

Regardless, eight votes is tiny, and the headline is giving Santorum equal praise if not more so compared to Romney despite coming in second.

Rick Santorum is known for being a social issues guy, but he won Iowa talking about manufacturing and bringing jobs back, not gay “marriage” and baby killers.

Yes, he is a social conservative. Social Conservative does not equal stupid, he knows what the hot issues are. I am not saying “he’s the guy” especially since Perry is going to give South Carolina a shot but I’d crawl over molten glass to vote for him over Romney.

He knew because the map showed which areas still had votes out. Therefore, he concluded a Romney win (he said by around a 100 votes, so it was a lot narrower than Rove even predicted) based on the results of precincts in the same area.

Don’t get this conspiracy theory. Besides, no need to whine about an eight-vote loss that really is a huge victory for a candidate who was in the single digits a few weeks ago.

Boohoo. You call someone "identical" to an America-Hating Islamist Marxist and you're the one with the hurted fweeling? You say those words to my face and as you demand on your "about" page, I'd "kick your ass" pal.

This whining coming from a moron who claims there that he is in a blue state in "enema territory?"

Really. That's embarrassing.

You have the opportunity to co-opt people as allies, but you insist on making everyone out to be enemies. I for example am no fan of Romney, and I've said ove rand over, Romney vs Obama would be bad vs worst. Invading Iraq when we didn't know where the WMDs were was a bad or worse choice. Easy is it to sit back and criticize those who make tough choices.

By example, if it came to a street brawl between capitalists wearing Tea Party slogans and GOP t-shirts -versus- a bunch of Obama loving Occutards and I don't give a rat's ass how many primaries they've worked or log cabin republicans there are included, I'm fighting with them and against the Marxists.

You sit in your namby pamby rocking chair and say they're all the same, hoping the Occutards win the day so you can stick your tongue out at the imperfect republicans.

COWARD.

Thank you.

“You sit in your namby pamby rocking chair and say they’re all the same”

Not all. Just Obama and Romney.

I don’t know if this has already been brought up but wouldn’t a recount be in order? I can’t believe an 8 vote difference is going unchallenged.

So the Two guys who beat Newt but lost (barely) to Mitt should get out of the way so that Newt can beat Mitt?

Logic is not the strong suit of these Newtbots. Weeks before the primary when Newt was projected in the top three, they were saying that anyone finishing lower should quit the race so that conservatives could rally behind a single candidate - Newt Gingrich. Never mind that Gingrich isn't a conservative. All that mattered then was beating Mitt Romney, and later getting to see Newt debate Obama. Yet now that Gingrich finishes a distant fourth, the rules are rewritten so that the third place and one of the virtual first place candidates drop out to make up for Newt's failure as a candidate. I don't see why the attraction for Newt, but he could be the one Republican candidate who could actually lose to Obama if given the chance. I will take Santorum any day over McNewt.

Thanks for the link. I agree with your take on it. Nice.

This is a guy I can get behind and push.

Luke21: There isn’t one drop of difference between Willard and Obama.

Grunthor in 128: Please tell me 3 major policy differences, “bold colors not pale pastels” if you will between Mitt Romney and Barak Obama. Things they have DONE not things they have said.

Grunthor in 153: Please tell me the three major policy differences in the political records of Romney and Obama.

I responded to Luke21. Then you attacked that response with the second one and now the third. Do you see how they're all different?

If we can't get past the first one than we're done. Do you agree with Luke21 above or not?

There is no one to challenge Mitt when this starts really moving. Santorum is a nice guy - but he has zero organization. His 300+ town halls and running around in a truck will not work in other states, he doesn’t have the time. He is really running for VP.

Romney will win NH, and SC will be the test. If he wins SC and FL its over - id bet the farm on it.

Is there an “Anybody but Romney” PAC that I can donate to? I get sick thinking that I may have to hold my nose again to vote this election.

Rick spent .79 cents a vote! He will in all probability win NH with Newts help! Bachmann getting out helps either Rick or Newt! I like Rick. He is ok for me but I would rather see Newt cause Newt will slash and burn his way to the White House unlike Rick Santorum, Romney or Perry!
