Makes one wonder what he stole while he was active duty.

Is that even possible? I’m not sure you can court martial a retired officer, unless it happened while he was active.

He is, indeed, a disgrace. FWIW, officers don’t get punitive discharges pursuant to courts martial, they get dismissed. Also, you can’t reduce an officer in rank via court martial sentence; however, in the Air Force we do a rank determination to determine at what grade the member honorably served. That’s why Col Mike Murphy, an AF JAG, retired as an O-1 (second lieutenant) after it was discovered that he’d been disbarred. Long, sad story (I sat second chair to him my first few courts-martial as a JAGlet and was floored when the charges came to light).

Don’t know a thing about this gentleman but seeing how this is coming from Arizona and somtimes, just sometimes mind you, there is a lot more to the story than meets the eye.

This guy would make the ethics of the average prison inmate look good by comparison. Incredible.

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne says a retired colonel has been charged with stealing $2 million from a fund to help families of national guard soldiers deployed overseas.

Wow! That is very low. I was thinking it was some corporate theft, but to steal from the troops is absolutely disgusting. He deserves whatever happens. I am surprised they made him an E-1. I didn’t know officers could go to E-1. I thought he would be an O-1.

I’m broken hearted to read this. It makes me think such activity is rampant and we just don’t know about it. I remember reading a book written about a time when NCO clubs had slot machines for entertainment. The money was skimmed by active duty and civilian managers. I think they all went to prison. With the high tech of today, it’s all probably harder to catch.

Well, of COURSE he stole from the National Guard. Who cares about the National Guard? After all we’re not REAL soldiers, are we?

Pull his ass back on active duty, and let UCMJ come down on his neck like a Muslim sword. Forfeiture of all pay and benefits, reduction in rank, and Dishonorable.

Oh, and a General Officer Letter of Reprimand for his 201 file.
