Judge rules for Walker campaign in case against state election officials (NO Bugs Bunny!)

judge ruled Thursday that the state Government Accountability Board needs to take more aggressive action to vet recall signatures that are expected to be submitted in two weeks against Gov. Scott Walker and other Republican office holders.

The ruling by Waukesha County Circuit Judge J. Mac Davis came in a case filed Dec. 15 by Walker's campaign committee and Stephan Thompson, executive director of the state Republican Party, asking Davis to order the accountability board to seek out and eliminate duplicate and fictitious signatures and illegible addresses in recall petitions.

Davis, who refused to enter injunctions in the case, based his decision on his interpretation of state law, more than on equal protection arguments brought up by the Republicans. He also said that the board must take "reasonable" efforts to eliminate such signatures.

Kevin Kennedy, director and general counsel of the board, said after the hearing that his organization would have to discuss the decision to see what it needed to change in procedures already in place.

In court, Kennedy testified that entering signatures into a database to look for duplicates could take eight extra weeks for his staff, and could cost $94,000 for software and outside help.

Steven M. Biskupic, attorney for the Republicans, argued that not catching invalid signatures violated the constitutional rights to equal protection of people who chose not to sign recall petitions.

He also cited a media report that one man claimed he'd signed recall petitions 80 times, and submitted a petition from last summer's attempt to recall Sen. Jim Holperin (D-Conover), in which the accountability board allowed a "Bugs Bunny" signature to be counted. Kennedy said the signature was counted because Holperin didn't follow the proper procedures for challenging it.

In issuing his ruling, Davis said, "Counting the signature of Bugs Bunny is something only a lawyer could make seem OK."

Recall organizers are collecting petitions now to recall Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and four Republican state senators. The petitions are due to the accountability board Jan. 17, and the board is charged with validating them and deciding if recalls are wa

The time consuming part of this exercise will be to enter the hand written names into the data base.

That better be done with one registered dem and one registered repub agreeing on each signature written in. If there is a problem with agreement two arbitrators are called upon, one from each party to verify the signature.

Biskupic needs to make this douchebag publically aware, ie press release, what Kennedy's impending contempt charge will cost him personally in terms of dollars and freedom...

"Let me “aks” you guys a question: is there ANY CHANCE IN HELL Wisconsin would vote against Hussein in November?"

Well, consider the only reason this thread even exists is that in 2010 the GOP took the Governor's chair 52-46; both houses of the Statehouse (firm control of the Assembly; and after 2011 recall elections, a current 1-vote margin in the Senate); and then Prosser beat JoAnne "I won because the AP tells me so" Kloppenburg 50.2-49.8.

So yeah, it could happen. McCrisis ran poorly in cheeseland but Kerry barely edged Bush 49.7-49.3. And since the White House has already said they're playing off a Kerry map (to lose) one would think Wisconsin is very much in play.

ACORN has the State’s voter rolls stacked with random disinterested people they know will never actually go out and vote.

As was the case of New York ACORN probably fills out absentee ballots for them in Wisconsin. If they do this for regular elections they probably also do it for recall petitions.

It would be nice if the program could call each of theses people to verify that they, and not some 3rd party actually signed the petition and/or cast a vote.

Counting duplicates is only going to get rid of a minority of the fraudulent entry’s, and comparing to the even more fraudulent voter registration rolls will only eliminate inconsistency in the lies theses same organizations created in the first place.

Yea. And most lawyers are corrupt and depraved fools and liars at this point of time. Most politicians are and were lawyers.
This judge is a just judge and rare amongst the evil judiciary of left wing liberal democrat unjust judges of today, 4 of the 9 Supreme court unjust liberal judges are proof thereof.

Voter ID SHOULD eliminate even most of those. Anyone requesting an absentee ballot has to provide proof of identity with a valid photo id.

We are all working individually, but every signature will be examined by 2 different people working independently. Questionable signatures will be flagged and somebody else will have the responsibility of challenging them.

Takes an average programmer 5 minutes.

And a government programmer, 8 weeks.
