Police break into a house, gunfire erupts, one officer dead, five others wounded.

We have no idea if anyone in the house fired or if it was entirely a friendly fire incident. Nothing found in the house that was illegal. The warrent may have been fraudulent. The veteran in the house was wounded, non critically, and had never been in trouble with the law before, except for on traffic violation, operating without insurance.

No charges filed yet.

That’s an interesting defense. He served in the Army from 1994-1998. Whatever military action he was part of, was clearly a Clinton one.

Sorry for the officer’s death and his wounded companions, but this was bound to happen sooner or later. Police just can’t go around kicking doors in and think it is justified.

Could you clarify that statement, Captain, Sir?

The PTSD excuse?

The War on Drugs excuse?

The friendly fire excuse?

The fraudulent warrant excuse?

From the article at the link “In the 1990s, Stewart was on active duty military. He spent four years in the Army but never saw combat.”

Your title is totally different than the one you linked to.
The article contains no mention of his father. There is no mention of PTSD.

You are correct. I made an error. The title is to an article that cannot be posted on FR, so I started looking for a story that could be posted. I changed the link and other relevant parts, but missed the change in headline, which should be “Ogden police shooting: Jared Francom, Utah officer, killed in shootout”

I was looking for another publication of the AP story, so that I could excerpt it for freerepublic.

Mea Culpa.

Francom was involved in a "justified" killing in a previous peasant beat-down raid. The dead peasant "attacked" them with a golf club.

According to a law enforcement source, Grogan was shot in the face through the cheek; Burrell was shot twice, once in the stomach, and his face was hit with fragments; Rounkles was shot in the leg and the bullet was still lodged inside; Hutchinson was shot four times, twice to his vest, once to his arm and once through his hip; and Vanderwarf was shot in the hip.

These cops are going to be quite embarrassed if we ever are informed of the source of each of these bullets.

PTSD has become the "race card" for veterans who have turned criminal.
Doesn't even matter if he was in combat. Pathetic.

Francom was part of the Kop Klown Show that killed Todd Blair. "I was just following [stupid] orders" has become the "race card" for the militarized police forces.

Police tried to detain [Todd] Blair so that he wouldn't be in the house when it was raided, but pulled over the wrong person. Despite that mistake, and despite the knowledge that the roommate had moved out, the raid on Blair was still carried out. It was hastily planned, reported the Tribune, diverting from protocol. Burnett, who shot Blair, told investigators that it is "absolutely not our standard" to carry out such a raid with as little planning as was done, according to the Tribune.

Q: Why didn't they pinch Matt Stewart on his way to work at Walmart?

A: Because it's more fun to "get yo Cammies on" and bust down a door with a squad of dynamic entry goons...

I just watched that video. My sympathy for the police is waning fast. No way that one was justified, even if that is what the police investigation found (convenient that they get to investigate themselves). With tactics like this there are going to be a lot more dead officers, and for good reason.
