Sheriff Joe Arpaio Announces Re-Election Bid
Stand With Arizona ^ | 01-07-2012 | John Hill

The open-borders left just can't believe it. After all the trumped-up "investigations", the race-baiting by Obama officials and La Raza stooges like Rep. Raul Grijalva, the politically-driven charges by the Department of Justice...

Sheriff Joe is running for another term.

That's right. "America's Toughest Sheriff" refuses to quit, refuses to knuckle under or stop doing his job protecting the people of Maricopa County - the 4th most populous county in America - from illegal invaders and criminal aliens. And Sheriff Joe is also staying on the job for ALL Americans. Because the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office apprehends a staggering 25% of all criminal illegal aliens in the United States. That means Joe doesn't just keep illegal alien rapists, robbers, gangbangers and identity theives out of Phoenix, Mesa and Scottsdale, AZ - he also keeps criminals from threatening Americans in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida - or a city or town near you.

That is why Sheriff Joe was a target for this Administration from day one, and why the DOJ launched an "investigation" against Arpaio just four weeks after Obama's inauguration - when most Cabinet departments were barely even staffed. Because Arizona is the gateway for illegal aliens into America. And the open-borders forces don't want Sheriff Joe to be the gate, stopping the flow of illegal labor - and potential voters - into this country.

So Joe will not quit. He cannot quit.

A feisty Arpaio announced his decision in an interview with Megyn Kelly:

Stand With Arizona wholeheartedly supports Sheriff Joe Arapio for re-election, and rejects the politically-driven attacks on Arpaio and his outstanding deputies.

Joe has been on a continual downward trend over the past three elections (2008, he was able to pull a 55% win). While he has some positives on crime and the illegals....he hasn’t exactly been overly positive with the local population. Depending on who runs against, he ought to win....but it might be even less than the 55% he had four years ago.

On the comical side....there are still folks who remembered the armored vehicle episode (2004), and his department looked like the Three Stooges after the assault on a house. They never found anything in the house....but burned down the house...with the armored vehicle losing control and running into some neighbor’s vehicle.

Gee,I hope he runs a nice friendly campaign. I mean, he doesn’t want to appear angry about anything.

By contrast there was little comical about Pima Sheriff Clarence Dipstick's SWAT team gunning down the Iraqi veteran in his home in a hail of 71 bullets, nor his refusal to take action against Jared Loughner or remove his guns, after numerous incidents in which he threatened to kill students and others - which were reported to Dipstick, but he did nothing, while friends with Loughner's Mom, who ran DEP for Pima. Loughner later shot Gabby Giffords, and killed several others.

I’m part of the (legal) local population, and he’s still quite popular with the (legal) people I know.

And the Arizona Red Star (Daily Star) just hates it. Every time the majority of the coaments are for Joe they clear off all the comments and start over trying to get mainly Joe Haters.

We’d trade the entire city council and mayor of LA for 1 sheriff Joe.

This is just a question, I’m not accusing you of anything.

Why did you vote against Arpaio? I’ve seen many posts by others on FR that live in his area that don’t like him either and I’m wondering the reason. All I hear is press releases from both sides which I take with a truckload of salt.
I hadn’t heard of the 2004 incident where they accidentally burned a house down; no doubt that no one was found responsible.

I do know he promised to only serve one term a long time ago.

I do agree with your reasoning about voting for him now.

Thank you.

I hear that alot. Here is a comment from the SWA Facebook page, one of 500 in the past hour:

Tawny O'Hara Always hated him when I lived there but now I think he's the only one with balls along the border. Keeping the "illegals" from crossing isn't race related it's protection. I live about 20 miles from the border and trust me it's not the poor down trodden that are paying $5000-$7000 to coyotes to get them across and the rest are drug mules.

He comes across as a self promoter con-man huckster etc. Some of his ideas are great but the whole image thing works against him. Lack of professionalism?
