Hannity Challenges Rick Perry On Romney Attacks: ‘It Sounds Like Occupy Wall Street’

Rick Perry had an indisputably rough night in New Hampshire. In fact, tonight, his eyes were entirely on South Carolina, and, on Hannity tonight, he didn’t even bother to talk about New Hampshire. But his night got worse as Sean Hannity challenged him on his claims that Mitt Romney was a “vulture capitalist”– going so far as to claim that Perry sounded like a member of Occupy Wall Street.

Perry began the segment attacking President Obama, but Hannity quickly shifted gears to the “very harsh words” Perry has had for Romney. “It almost sounds like Occupy Wall Street,” he noted, “it doesn’t sound like someone who is governing Texas as a conservative.”

“There is a real difference between venture capitalism and vulture capitalism,” Perry replied, adding that “venture capitalism we like; vulture capitalism, no.” He justified his attacks saying that “the fact of the matter is he’s going to have to face up to this at some time or another.” Hannity wasn’t satisfied with this answer, asking Perry whether he was saying “that Mitt Romney is a vulture capitalist, that he is unethical.” Perry specified that he thought what happened with two specific companies bought by Bain was “irresponsible,” and that “the folks in South Carolina agree with that.” Hannity replied that it was still “as severe as they can get” as far as attacks go, though Perry insisted there were places where Bain had “destroyed people’s lives.”

I’m starting to despise Hannity.

I'm already there.

thanks, Catherine. It’s important to me also.

Shows the true character of a person, in my opinion.

For reference, I'm a Santorum guy at the moment, having been in the Perry, or Gingrich column at various times, but their Occupy language bothered me tremendously. I left Newt's camp when he started this Occupy/Bain crap against Romney a few weeks back. When he acknowledged he'd spoken out of line. I worried Newt might "say anything" and he's done it again. Remember "right wing social engineering"?

So, Newt's off my list and I won't consider going back unless he's the nominee. Now I question Perry's moral compass. Does he know what he believes. Santorum seems to be the only one.

>>You must really love Mitt or hate Perry. Kinda thinkin’ the former.>>

No actually I was ready to support Perry when he announced. Until I heard how stupid he talks and painful it is to listen to him. Then, his completely meaningless and irrelevant attacks on Romney’s illegal alien issue that was from what?....10 years ago?

He imploded because all he could say was “Back in Texas”......yeah, like that’s going to go over well around the nation.

It was his to lose and he did everything wrong. A textbook on how to implode. I would have fired every single one of his advisers.

And his final act.....LIE about Romney’s statement about firing workers.

Then I liked Cain but we all know what happened there. Then I liked Newt but he’s talking like an OWS freak now.

So....it’s down to Santorum or Mitt. I hated Mitt. I hated his lack of courage to come out for other conservatives when it didn’t seem popular, only then to get on bandwagons, .....but I Don’t hate him anymore. He’s held up very Presidential and if he’s all we got, it’s all we got.

What are you going to do?....keep this clown in office who hates America, especially White America?

It was Perry’s to lose and he did everything wrong and now he’s just a liar.

I also live in Texas. Rick Perry is not a liar, and I am proud of his work as governor.

I really don’t want Romney to win, but I’m not willing to become a little socialist wannabe like Rick Perry to do it. Vulture capitalism? Really? VULTURE capitalism. Welcome to the real world, Rick. People get hurt in capitalist economies. The alternative is massive government control and far, far worse.

This whole line of attack is going to guarantee Romney the nomination. What this is proving is that many conservatives aren’t ideological and even on FR don’t really support the free market.

People hate Romney so much they’re willing to sell their ideological soul to beat him and that’s crazy.

Hannity is a lightweight. We need “Myth Busters” now more than ever.

Perry questioned Romney’s business ethics. And they probably are questionable.

What does that have to do with a moral compass?

If you bothered to read my earlier post, I said no one could possible question Rick Perry’s business friendly stance.

He’s proved it over his 11 years as governor of a big state which has shown growth and financial success.

Santorum is not pure as the driven snow. His only virtue in this instance is in saying nothing. That’s all he’s done since he won Iowa...say nothing and try not to offend anyone.

I saw that same look on Hannity’s face when he interviewed Perry while Cain was making accusations that Perry’s staff was behind his ‘woman’ problems. The whole interview, Hannity stared at Rick like he was looking at a serial killer or something. The sheer hatred was palpable.

Right....because he's principled?

Flashback:

He originally supported Giuliani in 2008, then asked Huckabee to drop out, so everyone could get behind McCain.

I think you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat animals.

The Bible talks about that - how you treat the "lesser" among you tells all about you. How a person treats animals, children and the elderly - tells me everything I need to know about him.

This whole line of attack is going to guarantee Romney the nomination.

One of my points is that if Romney is not attacked on this issue before he becomes the nominee - he WILL be attacked on it later when Obama brings it up. Better to get that out of the way because it could really hurt him then.

Of course, I want the attacks to take him out NOW - get the Establishment's Boy out, so the rest of the candidates can fight it out in a fair fight.

Well, I just caught a smidgen of Mark Davis while I was getting ready to take Bubba on a walk and he was discussing this issue.

He was totally off Gingrich because of this.

He was not totally off Rick Perry because, as he said, he’s known Rick Perry for two decades and loves him. Me, too.

However, he did think Perry had gone off the rails a little on this and hoped he would abandon this and go back to explaining his policies and what he would try to do for America.

Someone said a few posts back and Rick Perry talks too much Texas. I think she may be right as this seems to antagonize people a little in other states.

One can understand it, though, as he’s been governor of Texas for 11 years and held other offices before that.

Most Texans think he’s been a great governor and he does have a record to be proud of.

So, one can’t blame him for citing it. Other people can say what they would do, he can prove what he would do because he’s done it.

I realize he hasn’t yet captured the affection of the electorate around. I don’t know why. If he can’t make the sale in SC, he will have a decision to make.

I personally hope he goes on because our other ‘conservative candidates’ seem bent on self-destruction and we may need a really good man in reserve.

‘It Sounds Like Occupy Wall Street’

Hannity's right. Perry and Gingrich need to specify the company(ies) that were "Bain'ed" by Romney in a vulture-esque manner. Santorum's the only one who's handled this issue as an adult so far by brushing off the "vulture capitalism" sound bite.

Frankly, Washington DC and Fedzilla need a good Bain'ing, and isn't that what most of the candidates are running on?

I do think that if Perry can hang in there, Santorum will fade away and Newt will burn himself out. If Perry’s money holds out - I think he could be the beneficiary of that.

It’s sad to see that out of 50+ posts there are less than a half dozen principled conservative responses. The one thing Newt has done since starting his run that I am really upset about is this populist attack on Bain. Seeing most of the responses here on this thread is extremely disappointing.

Only nitwits would quote the villain out of the 5th Element movie, destruction is destruction.

It was the worst on camera performance by Hannity ever. On a scale of 1 to 10, Hannity is a big O after his treatment of Rick Perry.

Thanks for this thread.

HEY SEAN! When you say “ - - - “it doesn’t sound like someone who is governing Texas as a conservative.” - - - “ I wonder if you will boo-hoo when the Federal ENTITLEMENT PLANTATION gets cleaned to the bone by Vulture Willy?

Suck it up Sean Hannity, ‘cause the impending downsizing of the US Federal Government by Perry, Dr. Paul or Vulture Romney will test your intestinal fortitude as a motor-mouth Conservative.

BTW, Texas has a lot of vultures - - - they feed a lot on roadkill. You know, those that want to stay in the middle of the road.
