Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Thursday for talks with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, and other senior defense and intelligence officials.
The visit comes as the United States attempts to coordinate with Israel on the issue of Iran's nuclear capabilities, and to determine Israel's intentions with regard to a possible attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Coordinate my ass - they want to find out what the Israeli's are up to so they can give the Muzzies a heads up. I doubt we will come away with anything substantive, there is no way the Israeli's will trust this adminstration.
There is no attack planned for the Iranian facilities...the Israelis are acting by killing off the Iranian nuclear scientists, and Obama is pissed off about it. That’s why he’s sending the JCS Chairman to see Barak to tell them to stop.
O sending a miltary man to do his dirty work
I have a feeling they are going there for other reasons. They may SAY they are going there to try and stop Israel. The real reason they are going is probably something else. To make plans to attack Iran or to coordinate the plans with Israel.
We may openly say we condemn Israel - we may privately be working out the details.
Believe nothing that is reported.
The last people I want Israel trusting or even listening to at this point is the US government.
You’re on your own, Israel. The people of America sold you down the river. All you’ll get from the administration the American people elected is a stab in the back. Rely on the Lord your G_d and the prayers of those of us who refused to vote for this administration because we knew they were bad news.
This situation is close to a serious confrontation. No question Israel cannot allow Iran to become nuclear armed. Effective cyberwarfare, assassinations, destruction of a missile base shows the Israelis are serious. Now if the US wanted to coordinate the overwhelming naval and air power in the Persian Gulf should be far more than the Iranians could stop in a well planned coordinated attack. Yet something worries me. Those carrier groups are forming up in the Arabian Sea.That makes sense. The Iranians have “warned” the US not to reenter the Strait of Hormuz. Bluster? Or might the Chinese or Russians, who want American influence in the area to end, armed the Iranians with new improved shore to ship missiles that might seriously damage our ships in the narrow Gulf.
Hello?
It’s an election year, Obama deploys 10,000 troops in Israel, with this Obama appears to support Israel -which would otherwise be a ready criticism. Not a peep from liberals. All while the Republican candidates will take ever tougher stances on Iran. This all makes Obama look moderate and supportive of Israel, while triangulating the Republican field.
While totally phony....it’s pretty simple and effective.
Israel would be fools to let Obama have even a hint of what their plans or intentions are. They might just as soon send it in an e-mail straight to Iran.
It’s not scheduled to take place until spring. Plenty of time for Obama to change his mind over something like Israeli settlements, or anything else that’s convenient.
“Coordinate my ass - they want to find out what the Israeli’s are up to so they can give the Muzzies a heads up. I doubt we will come away with anything substantive, there is no way the Israeli’s will trust this adminstration.”
Your assessment is dead-on, and I’m sure the Israelis are wise to the Obama administration’s attempts to uncover their attack plans. Bibi will never trust Obama or his minions, to do so would be suicide for his nation.
I think the Republican candidates should be talking about the dangers Israel faces, and their moral imperative to protect themselves against Iran and their other enemies.
Having written that, it should by now be clear to the Israelis that they will have to all-but act alone regarding Iran. The USA isn’t going to be helping them (makes me ashamed to admit that, but it’s the truth). Even Bush II failed in this — he had the opportunity to take down Iran while there was still time and while the job would have been easier, but turned away, because simply saying “no” and washing his hands was the easier thing to do.
What’s worse is that with Obama in power, the USA seems to be more interested in advancing Islam than Israel....
