Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum touted an 11th-hour endorsement from conservative Christian leaders on Sunday ahead of South Carolina's crucial nominating contest but it appeared to have little influence on churchgoers.
With South Carolina's January 21 primary approaching, time is running short for Santorum and other Republican candidates who hope to slow front-runner Mitt Romney's march to the Republican presidential nomination.....
....."I make decisions for myself and I don't listen to what a bunch of leaders say to do," said Victoria Jaworowski, who was attending the Cathedral of Praise mega-church in North Charleston.
The Christian leaders meeting in Texas only endorsed Santorum narrowly in a vote that went to the third ballot. It is not clear how they will help the former Pennsylvania senator in terms of money or staff to help him campaign.......
.......Santorum has criticized the financial industry as a whole.
"You need a leader who's going to go out on the Republican side and fight the interests of Wall Street and big business," he said in Gaffney, South Carolina, on Friday.........

Of Interest Ping.
Good gravy. Which voting block is he appealing to? OWS?
Well, the story is uplifting. It’s exactly what I hoped for. Who is Santorum but a stalking horse? He has no credentials. Anyone in his corner is facing a TKO against Obama.
Do you know TEXAS is a Right To Work State. WHAT UNIONS.
You’re linking Little Green frickin’ Footballs??!!
Why are you linking to those pinkos at LGF?
"If we unify behind Santorum, it will force Romney to pick him as his running mate - for he'll know that's the only way to get our support in the general (election in November)."
That's the slimy deal behind this. They'll go for Romney if he goes for Santorum on his ticket. Should we call them Judas Conservatives?
We suspected this all along: Santorum is a stalking horse for Romney. A vote for Santorum is a vote for Romney. Folks in South Carolina need to know this.
..
You do not fight the interests of Wall Street and big business. You simply remove government favors and let them proceed accordingly.
Santorum is a northeasterner who grew up in an increasingly economically depressed Western Pennsylvania. His instincts are to use government to spur economic growth. Whether it's state-regulated trade, special tax breaks to favored industries or, evidently, "fighting" Wall Street and big business, he's got a government plan for it.
We are so screwed this election cycle.
Because I already posted this story here.
I figured as much, There’s a reason most of his supporters don’t seem to care if Romney wins SC, and why they openly take about only making a “strong finish” there.
Oh I don’t know maybe the REAGAN Conservatives.
In late 1979, during an economic strategy meeting, Ronald Reagan was talking about his upcoming presidential campaign. At one point, somebody expressed concern that John Connally, the former governor of Texas and another presidential candidate, was gaining support among corporate chief executive officers, with all the financial support and credibility that that entailed. Reagan said this didnt bother him at all. Let him have the Fortune 500, he said. I want our campaign to stand for Main Street, not Wall Street. I want us to stand for the worker, the shopkeeper, the entrepreneur, and the small businessman. Reagans instincts were right on the mark.

OOOOOOOH. Man. He just stepped in it. He's attacking CAPITALISM, and using the arguments and language of the left! HORRORS! How dare he attack from the left?
All the talking heads and GOP Elites are going to come down on him like a ton of bricks within 3 seconds!
3,2,1....crickets chirping
Yes, let’s bash everyone but Rick Perry. That will make me want to support him. Not. After the campaign Perry has run he could not win Texas. He is DONE>
It is a Rick Santorum quote, not an LGF quote.
It wasn’t LGF saying Risk said this, it was Rick using those words.
Correct he, Santorum, has always opposed TARP. But you and Newt thought TARP was wonderful. TARP support is not supporting the free market. TARP is the government picking winners and looser’s, a socialist thing.
Santorum voted for TARP.
Incorrect. Santorum was not in the U.S. Senate to vote for TARP.
