Harry Reid: "Tea Party Dying Out As The Economy Is Getting Better" (video)

MR. GREGORY: Well, almost a year ago, I talked to you. You thought the tea party would die out as the economy got better. You, you weren't right about that.

SEN. REID: Well, I think the tea party's dying out as the economy's getting better slowly.

MR. GREGORY: You do think that?

SEN. REID: Oh, sure, no question about it. And, and, and you--and, and you...

MR. GREGORY: Well, we just talked about their, their muscular impact on the process.

SEN. REID: Well, but that's during the past year. I would hope that the two Republican leaders have learned what took place in the previous year. And, you know, what we have to focus on this year is rebuilding the economy. We have to, and the only way to do that is to create jobs and that's why the agenda that I'm moving forward on, I hope with some cooperation from the Republicans this time, is to do something about creating jobs. Our surface transportation bill, it'll save a million jobs, create a lot more jobs, Federal Aviation Administration, that's more than 200,000 jobs. We're having a very important piece of legislation, important to this network right here, IP, and that's of course dealing with informational--with, with making sure that we have intellectual property that's protected and we need to do that. And that--that's also job saving. So that's what we need to work on, things that create jobs and protect the American economy.

The economy perked up right after the GOP began blocking the Obama agenda.

There was a good reason that Obama delayed any help for the economy. They wanted a recovery just before the elections and they will get it. That is why Obama will win and the Dems will retake the House.

Then the $hit hits the fan with MASSIVE Socialism.

Don’t bet your farm on that booby! The Tea Party is just resting and waiting for 2012 to finish the job!

I hate to agree with Dingy harry, but the Tea Party has been a bit flaccid lately.

I think when Sarah left the race, it took a lot of wind out of our sails.

Barry’s state run “media” is saying on TV that “the economy is getting better” so it must be true. Dingy really needs to get out more often. Nevada is in the toilet.

“The Tea Party is just resting and waiting for 2012 to finish the job!”

The ‘Tea Party’ died in the blizzard of negative propaganda it was subjected to after the 2010 elections.

“That is why Obama will win and the Dems will retake the House.

I don’t think the Dems will regain the house. But I think they’ll keep the Senate and Obama will easily win.

Romney will be the nominee, and he, like McCain is tragically flawed.

And the base will stay home, yet again, and in June of 2013, we’ll see the posts crying and whining that more should have been done to get rid of Obama.

If you don’t talk to your neighbors, contribute and vote, you’re part of the problem.

I hope you’re right, but where I live the Tea Party has degenerated into a small group of fruitcakes, anarchists, and posse comitatus types who are incapable of influencing anything. They make Ron Paul look positively sane.

This is certainly not the result of any improvement in the economy or any of the policies put forth by Dingy Harry, but just based on the flaccidity of response to the Presidential polls, it seems that the fire has gone out.

The main power of what Media has termed “Tea Party” has never been in the publicized ramblings and machinations of the myriad “Tea-Party Pseudonymed” wannabes that get the coverage.

The real power is in the disgust, dissatisfaction and tangible enmity of loosely affiliated Tea Party sympathizers - real normal Americans fed up with the Halfrican Muslim and his Democrat Party. These people are still here, surviving and waiting.

They intend to vote come November, and it doesn’t matter one tinker’s damn what any quasi-official “Tea Party” claimant organization says - they will not count in the end.

I agree. I put it this way:

The TEA party was and is simply a reflection of conservative voter discontent. That discontent is unchanged.

Harry’s whistling past the graveyard.

The tea party people are busy working for various candidates in the LOCAL and presidential elections.

Remember it is about taking the senate with a 60+ majority and just nailing the house majority.

others are working on the presidential campaigns.

The OWS people are looking to be PAID volunteers from the unions.

I think you’re right in that regard, I am certainly one of those who can’t wait to vote for whoever the Republican nominee is, in order to get rid of the worst and most destructive anti-American President of all time. It’s probably just the internecine warfare that has come to dominate FR lately that’s soured my perception a bit.

Disgust, dissatisfaction, and tangible enmity - we’ve sure got plenty of that! Thanks.

the MSM only interviews kooks who claim to be tea party leaders. They will have some nutter who is a tea party ron paul supporter who will say nobody will go out for anyone BUT kook paul or something along those lines.

The tea party was silent but is now a vocal majority. It is the majority that is unafraid to say in public what an incompetent Obama is. It is the majority that sees clearly the MSM is holding water for Obama. It is the majority that does not like or want Obama’s sexual enginieering in the military or marriage.
