Could be, I think it just a case, like many European countries, of the populace having been deluged from birth about how great is socialism and how wicked, evil, mean, and nasty are capitalism and Israel. Basically many Euros are brainwashed ignoramuses. Even thought the British do not consider themselves European, I have a few Brit in-laws who think like them. Very intelligent in certain areas, but very naive about the world we live in.
