OH HELL NO! I want Newt to drive a STAKE through his heart...
In 2008, Romney told McCain to support the bailouts when McCain wanted to oppose them. He did this because he knew if McCain opposed the bailouts, he would win and Romney couldn’t run in 2012. Newt should not pick someone as VP who will intentionally sabotage his campaign. Romney is a liberal and, if he can’t have the White House, would prefer his fellow liberal Obama.

Wow! It is true that we discuss a lot of possibilities and even ideas that we don’t like but this one is horrid. :-) I hope you have your extra protective clothes on. I can’t see anyone liking this scenario. Have a great weekend!
Plus, Romney brings nothing, or close to it, to the ticket. He can't deliver his home state (MA), though perhaps an argument can be made that he can help tip the balance in NH and/or MI (personally, I don't think NH will be the deciding factor and MI is a pipe dream -- it will fall if it's a landslide, but not otherwise).
Neither does Gingrich have any glaring "holes" that need to be filled from a policy sense. He's credible enough on economy, social issues, immigration, and foreign policy.
No, odds are that Gingrich, assuming he is the nominee, will go the classic route and choose a governor or senator (past or present) from a swing state that will be crucial to the EV tally. Such as McConnell or Allen from VA, Santorum from PA, or Kasich from OH.
Longshot choices might be from smaller toss-up states: Walker of WI or Martinez of NM (especially if it is determine that Gingrich will benefit from the demographics of adding a woman to the ticket).

Newt saw what happened when Reagan had the Establishment Guy that he beat - GHWBush - foisted on him for VP.
And many Establishment foxes as appointments. It impeded a lot that Reagan wanted to get done - dismantling the Dept of Education, for one, and left the Establishment in the seats of power, just biding time.
Newt will defeat the Socialists, the media AND the Establishment. They will all be swept into the dustbin of history - and they know it. That is why Newt - and we - are under a three pronged assault. All the entrenched power brokers are about to lose their power. They see the bubbles disappearing from their champagne.
Newt has named the person he well my - please, God, - pick for his running mate - another man of a firm grasp on our Constitutions and our history and who back down to, apologize to, bow down to - NO ONE.

What would Romney bring to the ticket? No geographical, no demographical, and no philosophical pull in any areas that Gingrich needs.
A good running mate must be able to take the reins of power at a moment’s notice, must bring something geographically/demographically/philosphically that the head of the ticket is weak in.
If Gingrich wins the nomination, there are four people I could see as being a good ticket addition.
First, John Kasich of Ohio. Ohio is a make or break State this time. If Obama is within 5 points of Gingrich in Ohio in August, Kasich would be a prime choice.
Second, Susan Martinez of New Mexico. Female, latina, and from the swing State of New Mexico.
Third, Mitch Daniels of Indiana. Midwest, Fiscal Conservative, very popular Governor of a State that went for Obama (by 0.4%) last time.
Fourth, John Hoeven of North Dakota. Upper Midwest influence could swing voters in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Popular former Governor and oversaw North Dakota’s oil boom.
