GREENVILLE, S.C. — Newt Gingrich was confronted by a black man outside Tommy's Country Ham House, who questioned him on his comments on having poor children work as janitors.
The man said what Gingrich was asking for amounted to a "new form of slavery" and would force young African Americans to drop out of school.

Newt should have kept on walking. This is a no-win situation.
So the “afro-american” stated that if asked to do janitorial jobs at school, black kids would drop out rather than work. I believe him and it’s another indictment of “black culture” in America today.
It is a similar mentality to blacks telling a black kid that’s doing well in school that he’s “acting white.”
The Romneybots are in meltdown mode. They know Mittens is toast tonight and it’s the beginning of the end.
The Rove-Romneybots are already trying to spin that the SC results don’t matter and they’re going to get even nastier and desperate between now and Florida.
I offer, and this is no criticism of the other candidates, but only Newt can answer these issues head on. He can actually speak to minorities better than the president because he’s coming from a conservative value system....
In a fifty-fifty nation, a shift of a single percent settles elections.
Most Repubs shrink from confrontation. Gingrich revels in it. He'll go and he will choose arguments that will go right past their ideological barriers. Thats his gift.
In the next debate, Newt should ask the entire audience to raise their hands if they did janitorial or other manual labor as a teenager: paper route, farm hand, mowed lawns, shovelled snow, etc.
That would end this stupid discussion.
You are right. Now, with that said, will the Newt folks be smart or dumb? Will they get sucked into a Mitt food fight like Bain (which damned near sunk Newt for good) or will they realize what has propelled Newt to the top (attack the liberals in media, in Obama's administration, and in general.)?
If they come out of SC with a win, especially a big win, all they will have to do to win Florida is to keep fire aimed on the liberals. That's what people crave.
There have been no standing o's for any attack by any candidate on another candidate. The standing o's are reserved for attacks on liberals.
And we have a drive by commenter award to Dusty Moment, who clearly decided to chime in after reading only the misleading headline.
Which is worse: to work as a janitor performing a service in exchange for monetary compensation or to be a misery pimp creating a perception of misfortune, creating false victims and false villains, and enriching oneself by threatening the latter if they don’t shell out money you’ve falsely, by implication only, promised to the former?
I agree with your take. When Gingrich went the kid-janitor-route and food-stamp-president route I cringed, but now I think he was trying to provoke a necessary dialogue.
This terminology dates Gingrich, especially since there have not been any “food stamps” for a long time, and the taking umbrage to the janitor-rhetoric by minorities was certain to happen - I just don’t see how any of these “mistakes” weren’t deliberately done by Gingrich.

Not freedom. Revenge. It’s revenge and reparations to make the white majority of this country support the blacks with free everything. They get to do nothing, and the politicans essentially do too, since this little game keeps them in their cushy jobs.
There is no incentive to change this system for anybody. Even the Republicans are mostly happy in the minority. They still have cushy jobs too. Both sides point fingers at each other before the cameras then meet for lunch while the msm looks the other way. Nobody has to take responsibility and nothing changes.
Last week I was among those who believed my Congressman was not part of the problem. He is one of the good guys. Then he endorsed Romney. If he has a challenger in the primary, the challenger will get my vote.
This has to stop.
I don’t think Gingrich wants the “stupid discussion” to end here. Sometimes it is necessary to have a discussion with stup..., let me rephrase that. Sometimes you need to talk things out with all members of our society.

Diversity racists have grown accustomed to intimidating whitey and mistaking themselves racially and morally superior to whitey.
This guy was probably surprised Newt did not tremble in this superior black presence. All these lefty racists who think they are so smart and scarey are going to find out they are not. Race slogans and stereotypes won’t cut it.
The Democrat Party maintains their power in this country by fostering dependence among racial minorities. At least two generations of blacks have been convinced they just can't make it in this country without assistance from the Democrat Party and they're not going to change anytime soon.
Newt is f**king nuts. Why meet with race-baiter, anti-Semite Sharpton or even Jealous for that matter? It just gives them credence and credibility. Blacks are going to vote 95% for Obama anyway.
Newt, stop the pandering. You are doing it with your pro-amnesty BS, and now it your "outreach" to the black community. What a loose cannon.
We've had the same problems in the inner cities for a long, long time. They worsened under Obama (Gingrich's point). It is legitimate to conclude after all this time that the approaches of the left, the same left that continue to get minority votes, are not working. It is also legitimate for Gingrich to say ‘let's try something new’, including encouraging jobs programs for youth so that they grow up believing in their own abilities to be successful and prosper.
