Activists Hold Rally for Mexican Grandmother Facing Deportation

Religious and community leaders gathered outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices in Baltimore to protest the looming deportation of a Mexican woman who has four grandchildren in the United States.

Josefina Rodriguez Vega, a 58-year-old undocumented immigrant living in Hagerstown, Maryland, was arrested last June for driving without a license and turned over to ICE. After several months under house arrest, Rodriguez Vega was taken last Thursday to an ICE detention center on Maryland's Eastern Shore, far from her home. With the legal options all but exhausted, she now faces imminent deportation to Mexico.

IOW, she'll no longer be far from home. What's the problem? What's the matter? Didn't want to live in Mexico anymore, but didn't want to renounce her Mexican citizenship? Or get driver's training? Or just not drive a car she's not qualified to operate?

There was a news story in the Daily News March 8, 2006 by Susan Abram titled Hit-and-run crashes on rise in Valley; most stay mystery

In that article it was stated that “Last year, 8,325 hit-and-run collisions were reported on San Fernando Valley streets, a 2 percent increase from 2004. An additional 700 hit-and-run crashes occurred on freeways that run through the Valley, officials said.”

On Sept. 7, 2011, an immigration judge in Baltimore granted Rodriguez-Vega voluntary departure until Jan. 5, 2012, according to ICE. Agents said she failed to comply, then removed and destroyed a detention ankle bracelet. The act made her an ICE fugitive.

The good part is that if she returns after deportation..... She can (and should) be charged with a felony with two years jail sentence.

Going by this I would guess her four grandchildren are anchor babies and US citizens. While criminal granny and her children are illegal aliens who need to be deported. Her real crime is Granny's spawn did not spit out enough anchor babies to burden our schools and welfare systems.

Now they'll all be seeking media attention as a way of obtaining sympathy for the “plight” of their own making. Gets no empathy from me. Makes ya wonder what other laws has she broken they didn't catch her at.

I really don’t know anything about Hagerstown, but this makes me suspect that they now have a large infestation of illegals. Organizers of the rally are quite possibly outside agitators.

There is absolutely no potential here of added value to the fabric of America here. The face of an illegal - a criminal, to boot. That mind is thinking how she can maneuver the media to stay here, or at worst, how she can come back here illegally. Offer her two things: Go home and stay, or come here again and go to prison for life.
